Close Down/empty Spa For Summer Months? Or Keep Pumping?

Recommended Posts

1988 CalSpa, Arizona, spa not used in summer months; since we got an above-ground pool a decade ago we don't use this as the "swimming pool" for the kids in summer.

So far, I've kept the spa filled and pumping a few hours a day through the summer (heater off, bromine tablets added).

But I was wondering if it would be better to close down/empty spa completely for the summer months? Or keep it going/pumping like I have in the past? Or would closing down/starting up again in fall just increase my chances of something like water leaks or pump seizing? Thanks.
