77119 Flashing Red Led On Board

Recommended Posts

I have a picture I can PM if needed

I have a 2003 Caldera Aspire. Past November the original Heater Control Relay Board finally went out. I replaced with the updated Heater Relay Board (part #77119). Everything worked great, then suddenly about 2 weeks ago... No Heat. BUT a reset of the breakers, Heat would come back on for a few days then QUIT.

Figured it was the filter, so took it out and cleaned... heat stopped during the middle of the night and has never come back on regardless of breaker resetting durations or times.

WHAT DOES FLASHING RED LIGHT STAND FOR???

ON MAIN BOARD: LIM ON = GREEN - good

ON MAIN BOARD: HTR = RED - good (works as it should with temp settings set)

ON HEAT CONTROL BOARD RED LED #D9 = FLASHING RED - bad

ON HEAT CONTROL BOARD GREED LED #D10 = GREEN - good (power from breaker for heater okay)

I have tested power from the breakers, all 3 breakers GOOD (main panel and 2 in panel near tub)

all power from breaker getting to tub as it should 240V

Ground is good, Neutral is good

tested the HI LOW (overheat sensor) using OHM meter, also hooked to tub put sensor in ice water and again in super hot water... tub cuts all power both hot and cold as it should

tested the PRESSURE SENSOR when circulation pump is disconnected with OHM Meter, pressure sensor brakes contact and no power goes thru... with circulation pump on, contact made, power goes thru. (tested connections)

adjusted pressure sensor, to see if any difference.. no difference, put adjustments back to stock

checked for OHMs on heater, was good (do not remember exact number)

checked all connections on both boards - all seems good

Removed Heater Control Board - no burning, no ion smell, no signs of any issues, re-installed and double checked to make sure little pins were aligned properly, and double checked all wires after reinstalling

Still NO power to the heater

AND AFTER ALL OF THIS, THAT D9 LED RED FLASHING LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING

what does it signify? please help? I have googled, and forum searched, but can not find answer. I am starting to believe I am going to have to buy another heater relay board...

The 77119 relay board will lock itself out if it detects a welded relay – in this event, LED D9 will be flashing.

You can recover from this condition by resetting power, however you can only recover twice – on the third time the board is locked out permanently and must be replaced.

If D9 is not flashing, you may have an issue with the main board.
