ptypool
Hi, I have a low pressure problem with my pool, and I hope someone can help me… The setup: 2 year old inground small kidney shaped pool (about 4x8 meters or 12x24) two connected drains at the bottom, not separate plumbing one skimmer. Looks like two intakes, but one I think is just a dummy 1.5 hp above ground pump, Sta-rite Sta-Rite sand filter waterfall, functional only when I shut the jets (water can’t go up unless jets outlet is closed) I only have 5psi when running the system. When I put it to the waterfall, I get about 8psi. I figure that since the waterfall is only one outlet, it increases the pressure. Other than that, can’t figure out what the problem might be. If I shut the drain and let only the skimmer run, or viceversa, the pressure stays consistent at 5 psi. I have run plumber’s snake through what I can get into, and can’t find any obstructions… None of this would be a problem if I had good circulation, but the problem is I get algae buildup, unless I scrub regularly and use chemicals to avoid the problem… Also, when I vacuum, the pressure goes down to almost zero! It has always run at this low pressure… My friend knows more than me, and he checked the impeller and the sand filter, both look ok. Any ideas would be appreciated. ps0303
Is your pump a 1.5HP single speed pump?
Pool Clown
What did your pressure used to be? Did you recently have the pump apart? Other than your friend checking it? Did your friend check the diffuser o-ring? Are you getting any air out of the returns?
