jtb
Hi, I'm new here but a hot tub owner for a long time. (Marque Spa 9 years old) I replaced my pump / motor a couple years ago and in the last week it has gotten very noisy. Tonight it just "hums". So I'm sure it will trip the brkr. Here in Illinois it will fall well below zero tonight. Will anything freeze? If I drain it will I be OK untill I get it fixed? Any thoughts would be welcomed. Dnepr Dave
If the water is still up to temperature, it would take many days to freeze, Keep the cover on it! However, the pipes and the pumps in the machinery space could freeze. Put an incandescent lamp in that space, you should be OK. Dave
TimberWoofie
Unless it remains cold for a long time, the high heat capacity of the water in the tub will keep it from freezing. As far as the pump compartment, a 100W light bulb can do wonders. All other pipes, etc., may be a cause for worry if the temp drops too much although a tarp over the tub along with the residual heat from the light bulb and tub should keep it cozy for a while. You can also add more bulbs under the tarp if you are concerned.
