skeeter3725
I have a 07 Hot Spring Jetsetter that only reaches about 90. I have changed the thermistors, cleaned the filter, and even shut the tub off overnight. Any ideas of what the problem may be?
spatech (the unreal one)
The fact that its 90º often makes people think the heater must be on part of the time. In reality, in non-winter times a spa equiped with a circ pump that runs 24/7 can sometimes transfer enough heat to get the water temp to 90º without the heater even being energized. With the main breaker off, I'd check the heater relay board to see if there is any evidence of a relay burnt. Sometimes it only shows on the back side but you can usually smell it once you remove the cover if the board has been fried.
skeeter3725
I don't smell anything burnt. I can hear a relay kicking on and off, whey I change the temp settings. Right now I here a click at 88 and when I turn it back to 89, it clicks again. I will set the temp at 99 and it never goes over 90. Thanks! PreservedSwine
Heater relay board most likely culprit. Check voltage on the 30 amp line- could also be a bad breaker (if you have it wired 220v) Have you had the tub a while, or did you just acquire it? skeeter3725
I have only had it a couple of months, and the breaker is about the same age. It is the 20amp 110, on a dedicated line. I do have a meter to test it. There is also a red light inside the spa pack that stays on when the water is just circulating and goes off when the jets are on. PreservedSwine
As long as it was working before- it should be working now. The reason I ask- If it was wired for 220v operation previousley, and the terminal jumpers are not placed in the correct position at the main terminal block for converting to 110v, the heater will not work, but everything else will be fine. Check for power at the heater terminals on the heater circuit board on the left side of the IQ2020. No power? Visually check the "heater on" led on the IQ2020, if it's lit, the heater PCB needs replacement.
