hjames710
I just put a rebuilt motor/pump in my tub. It works, but it's getting extremely hot, and kicking on and off. I have a warranty on it. But I'd like to avoid draining my hot tub again, as water is expensive here in Colorado. What should I do?
Dan.The.Spa.Man
Sounds like it may be a 220 volt motor and you may have 110 volts going to it. The motor may be 220 volt only, or hopefully it is convertible. If so it will say 110V/220V on the sticker under "voltage". If it does then you would need to follow the diagram that says 110V or low voltage. It should show a diagram for both setups and it would just be a matter of moving some of the wires in the motor. If it is a 220V only motor then it will not work.
hjames710
You were right. My hot tub dealer wired it wrong. Re-wired, and it works great. It still gets pretty hot, but I would expect it to. Should I put a computer fan in there or something to cool it? It hasn't been kicking off or anything. Spa_Guru
Normal motor temp is about 160-180f, just a little too hot to touch, the motor has a fan built into the armeture to cool it.
