It Did it last year about this time. Its a Salt system 4000 gal. Average temp 85. Total Alk 100, Ph 7.6, Hardness 150, The Pool is great clear nothing on the walls or bottom. Not having any problems other than this. Any Ideas. The pool shops tell me they have never heard of Light pink Slime. The only Two Add-on Chemicals I put in are Clarifier=(Cationic Polymer)Keeps My 600-GPH 40 Watt pump filtering good, and HTH Super Algae Stop.

I run the Chlorine Generator for about 3 hrs in the PM then cover the pool. Fc starts about 10 and ends up at 1 the next evening. CYA was 40 the last time i had it tested. I have to add it all the time. someone in the pool store told me In a Salt water system the CYA keeps going down. Cuz its not being added with the tablets in the Floater. I do let the Fc get low this time of the year. In the summer I can leave it uncovered and let the Salt system run in Automatic. I Will get the CYA tested and Keep the Fc higher and try that. Thanks I thought it mite be some "Exotic" Slim.

This is totally untrue unless you are constantly removing water and replacing it with new water. In that case your salt will also always be going down too!.

Hmmm, is there a cause and effect here? Very possibly so!

Pink slime is not 'exotic' but it is difficult to kill. It requires high levels of chlorine and if your pool is vinyl the chlorine levels needed will probably bleach the vinyl.

Once again, what type of SWCG do you have? Is the pool vinyl, fiberglass, or plaster? Is it inground or above ground?
