trigear
I have a small 2 person spa. When I open the air to the jets jets on one side it started to make a groaning noise and now anytime that group of jets are open with air it makes that that noise again. The other side of jets do not make this noise Any ideals what this could be? Edited July 5, 2010 by trigear
tub_repair_guy
I came across something similar once before- it was a one way air intake valve. When you open the air, the water pressure draws air into the jets thru a small tube that runs under the tub somewhere, and hopefully terminates at the front of the tub in the equipment area. In my case, it had a small round 1 way air valve that consisted of a small tube with a plastic flap that allowed air in but not back out. That small plastic flap vibrated when air passed thru it, making a strange noise similar to what you are describing. I simply cut out the valve and replaced it with a new one. Your problem may be different, but maybe this will send you in the right direction.
Spa God
I too have seen this, clean out the venturi at the spa side and like tub repair said check the check valve (which may be inline or may be in the venturi (the venturi is the unit under the handle you turn)
