sjt2900
My Calcium hardness runs between 450 and 500. From what I've read I understand this is too hard, but don't know what to do about it. We have a faucet with soft water. Should we fill part of the tub with this and the rest from the regular faucet? Or would that even help? Nitro
I would fill the whole tub through the water softener, and then add Calcium Increaser. The reason is, along with Calcium the water softener will also remove iron and other sediment.
Hillbilly Hot Tub
I agree with Nitro, you do not want that high of Calcium in a hot tub.
sjt2900
When we refill with the soft water, am I right in assuming it will be a whole new ballgame as far as what to expect of the PH and AK and such?
PaulR
The chemistry of the fill water will be pretty different, so you'll need to keep careful track of what's going on until you get used to how it behaves. (That is: Yes.) --paulr
Nitro
Make sure you check, and add Calcium (to ~150 ppm). Other than that you should be fine.
