Oops, I Let My Chlorine Level Drop To Zero!

Well, I accidentally let my chlorine level drop to zero for probably about 12 - 24 hours. I then proceeded to add too much Chlorine and brought the FC up to about 21ppm (the bottle saide 1oz brings to FC up 2ppm in 400 gallons... I guess not since I only added 1.5oz and I have a 350 gallon tub). Should I be doing anything else other than waiting for the FC to come down?

What are you using to sanitize your tub, Dichlor? I can't see why the bottle would say 1oz = 2ppm FC. That's totally incorrect. Any chance it says 1 TBS = 2ppm FC?

I'd just let it come down naturally.

Over here chem geek describes using hydrogen peroxide to bring down excessive FC; in a 350 gal tub, 7 oz of 3% peroxide will neutralize 10ppm FC.

Thanks for the response Nitro & Paul. FC is down to 10ppm, so I'll just wait another day.

Nitro, yup it's dichlor I'm using and yup the package really does say 1oz will make 2 ppm fc in 500 gallons. Guess someone did their math wrong :-) So how much does it take to increase FC in 350 gallons of H2O?

Check out the Pool Calculator, which I just used to determine that 1 oz of dichlor in 350 gal will raise FC by 11.9.

My tub is about the same size as yours; I keep a plastic spoon in my jar of dichlor, and one spoonful is worth about 3ppm FC.
