Need A Pump To Drain Tub

Probably going to be doing a water change right after Super Bowl. Looking to buy a submergeable pump to drain tub a lot quicker in the frozen winter. Last water change in September took 5 hours to drain Marquis Epic.

Thanks in advance.

I got mine at Home Depot for about $60. It works fine!

Hey guys. Thanks for the recommendations. I don't want to spend a fortune, around $50 will do the job.

One question though. I read here that somebody was upset that his submergeable pump was scratching the bottom of his hot tub. Is there any way to avoid this? Do any of these pumps recommended scratch the bottom? Thanks.

I have been using a 1/3 hp submersible pump from True Value. For over 15 years, it has emptied the 250 gallon spa in about 5 minutes. Here is somethig similar on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Superior-Pump-91330-...e/dp/B000X07GQS.

A good pump is something worth having around the house, so buying something mid-size is a bit of an insurance policy. A 1/3 hp pump moves a good bit of H2O

I got one like this at my local Harbor Freight. It'll suck it right down.

Dave, do you use that funny square "pad" as the water inlet|pickup with this pump? Is that why you later note this will not scratch the tub?

Yeah, I just set it in the bottom of the tub and plug it in. It has a float switch on it, so I tie it in the vertical position so it will pump until it looses suction. There is less than an inch of water left when it looses suction. I just filled it up after that. If I wanted to get all the water out, I'd use a wet/dry vac.
