limulus
Have any or you with real wood cabinets around your spas stained or treated them with anything? Have you used stain, polyurethane or an oil product like teak oil? The front door of our house is solid Mahogany and I use an oil based product on that every year. I use Superdeck transparent stain on my 2002 redwood cabinet. I originally chose this because it is what Sundance used at the factory and sells at their dealers. I have been extremely satisfied with the product. Most cabinets are redwood or cedar and should not be sealed or urethaned.

I like tung oil and a rag, real easy.
SmilinBare
As per the manufacturer's suggestion, I give the cedar cabinet a scrubbing every August, let 'er dry and then apply a coat of Olympic stain.
drewskie
I am wondering the same thing, but really, how do I clean the wood prior to staining it?? A hose, just wipe it? Thanks.
limulus
I'm not sure about cleaning it. I treated ours with Tung Oil last year and other than a little fading, it still looks really good. I'm going to treat it again this weekend. I guess it depends on what kind of cleaning it needs. Regular dirt: probably a mild soap and water solution. Mildew: Maybe a diluted bleach solution?
tony
You can purchase a wood/deck cleaner at Home Depot. There are many available. They do a good job prepping the wood for stain.
