  1. Sometimes spa manufacturers come out with new models or change or modify their models. But there is no particular time of year for them to do that. It's not like cars. What you need to look for is a dealer who is having a clearance sale of his display models. Or look for "parking lot" or "truckload" sales.
  2. It sounds like Consumer Reports needs to hear from actual consumers (a lot of them) to create enough interest, so that they will test them non-biased.
  3. If ypu would like to get away from using chlorine or bromine, consider switching to Pristine Blue. It is totally compatible with chlorine, (unlike Baquacil) so if you don't want to use it any more, you simply shock the pool with chlorine and go back to chlorine tablets. It is no more expensive than chlorine and it keeps your pool sparkling clean, sanitized and algae-free. For more info and to find a dealer - go to prisitineblue.com
  4. Ditto for the Hydra Spa Fiji. It will run on either 110 or 220. 110 is convenient if you don't have 220 available, and as stated above, as long as you don't run the jets for an extended period of time, it is just fine for a small tub. Usually 15 to 20 minutes is plenty of time to enjoy the tub and get the therapy you need.
  5. Don't hate your pool, it may help to sell your house! Go back to the pump basket, check the o-ring, make sure there's no grit or sand on it and make sure you have a good seal on the pump and try it again. If you're getting a lot of fine dirt trapped in the pump basket, you may want to try trapping that dirt in the skimmer basket first. You can go to the local pool store and see if they have something called a "bug house" or "filter saver". It's a thing kinda like a pantyhose that you put over the skimmer basket to trap the fine stuff before it gets to the pump. Or you could make one yourself out of an old panyhose. Good Luck!
  6. WE ALL have phone numbers, wesites and email addresses, but we don't post 'em here.
  7. That looks good, sinker and should be fine
  8. 8 hours??? 8 hours? What were they doing for 8 hours???
  9. Take Kreg's advice, but next time don't leave your spa sit idle for 3 weeks. Instead of turning it off completely, just turn the temp to the lowest setting, and program the spa to circulate at least once a day.
  10. I think I would just drain the old water and put fresh water in the pool. In the long run it will be less expensive than spending a fortune on chemicals to treat the water. It will also be easier on the filter once they get the pump running again. Also if it's going to cost more than $150 to fix the pump, you would be better off buying a whole new pump and motor. My opinion.
  11. We carry this replacement bulb. Yes it is really bright. And it's simple installation - as easy as replacing a lightbulb. We sell the one with 10 lighting modes for $99. Go to www.ColorGloProducts.com
  12. Like the song says, "Don't worry, be Happy!" in your hot tub
  13. Congratulations, Troubleman. I hope you have many years of enjoyment in your tub!
  14. I clicked on the larger image of the spa, it looks ok, but I thought the way there are two pillows instead of one in the lounge looks kind of dumb. Also it only has a 5 year warranty on the shell which is not very good compared to other better quality spas. I am not "bashing" this product, just pointing out some things. We have a spa on our showroom floor that has more features, a lifetime spa shell warranty, and is better looking that sells for only $2995, including a hard cover, start up chemicals and delivery. Plus US (with 42 years experience) to back it up! Good Luck with Walmart.
  15. Congratulations, Baroque! Let us know how it goes.
  16. The best spa (and car) salespeople are the ones who are genuinely interested in the customer and his needs, not the ones with the canned speech who are only interested in making a sale.
  17. We have been installing steel wall, vinyl lined pools for over 40 years in Northeast Ohio. To date, we have NEVER had to replace a wall that has rusted completely through. The current system we sell has steel walls, a 30 mil vinyl liner and a deck support system that keeps the deck from pulling away from the pool, sinking or having major cracks in it. When you have freezing and thawing of the ground, steel wall, vinyl liner is the only way to go. IMHO
  18. I agree, it's terrible that so many people are being taken advantage of. I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes when I made my original post about Wavetec. I was just trying to keep this forum on a positive and upbeat note.
  19. What I want to know is how did you get my picture? LOL
  20. OK Baroque, go with the 28mil liner. With 33,000 gal, you need a 1 1/2 hp pump. Have #2 test the river water before using it, if it doesn't give good readings, then get the water hauled in. It will be worth it. Let me know how it goes with #3.
  21. A reading of 100 on cyanuric acid is not too high. Levels should be between 30 and 100 and can be as high as 150 without causing any problems. Cya helps to keep the chlorine in your pool and keeps it from dissapating out to the sun. So a high or good reading is better than a low reading. You are fine, don't worry about it and don't waste anymore time or water. I would continue to use stabilized chlorine.
  22. Filling from the river is fine. All water can be treated, some just takes more chemicals to get it "right". We usually recommend having the water trucked in (they will use city water) but if the river water is right there and available, it will be fine. Still recommend the heavier liner (Eastcoat is right). But you seem to be doing good so far.
  23. Hi Eastcoast, we run into the same problem here in Ohio. There is a "big" company out of the Cleveland area that has stores all over NE Ohio. We are a small "mom & pop" shop, just my husband, myself and our son and a couple of employees. People will buy from the "big" company, then come into our store and say, I hate going back to [the big store] because they treat you like you're nothing to them. They are so big they are like McDonalds - they don't call you by name, you're just another customer. I want to ask, "Why did you buy your pool from them in the first place", but then I realize it was probably price. They are so big that they buy in bulk (1000's of filters at one time, for instance). We know we can't compete with that but we offer great service and friendly advice. And people keep coming back to us year after year. So we take pride in the fact that we've been in business for over 42 years, and our customers are the nicest people in the world (or at least our section of it)!! Good Luck and keep doing what your doing. You may not get rich, but you will have the great satisfaction that you have helped a lot of people make their Summers more enjoyable.
