If you happen to be the handyman type,most repairs if and when they arise,you could handle on your own. So in that regards,looking at a used tub with zero warranty,is a route you could persue. In the 8 years of ownership of my spa,I have fixed various things,and found parts via online. Ultimately,I would suggest going with a name brand,as they are built to a higher quality compared to Ebay tubs etc. You'll find they last longer,have high quality parts,and can find parts for em etc. FYI.....I have had zero issues with my "Caldera" shell,which is now over 8 years old. When I initially purchased the spa,1 of the things that impressed me with the spa,and Calderas product line,was the way they manufactuer the shells. When you go look at spas etc......where the lip of the shell overlaps the siding of the tub....try taking a look at that. You'll have to bend down and look up,or,turn your head upside down and look underneath lol. Visually looking at the edge of the shell,will give you an idea of how it's made I.E. layers involved,thicknesss etc etc. If any other questions,don't hesitate to ask.

Prior to purchasing our tub,we wet tested various models and configurations. I ultimately went with a 2003 Caldera Geneva Utopia. It has a lounger,which I throughly enjoy! I can adjust the pressure from the jets via diverter valve,and/or air/venturi valve. I happen to like alot of pressure/force from the jets,whereas the wife is the opposite,she likes it wimpy lol. I would suggest,if your vanity isn't an issue,to WET TEST any and all considerated spas. As you will be using it 99.99999% in a wet fashion(grin)it only makes sense to see what and how it will feel etc. Lastly,as someone else mentioned,having a lounger does take up a tad of space,so consider that,if you might be using the spa as a party/entertaining type tub. Ever since I installed the new ozonator parts,the water quality has been outstanding! I can definately tell a difference from before,and after. Installing the rebuild kit,was one of the best purchases I've made for my tub. I highly suggest to other peeps,to use an ozonator,and to rebuild/install a new 1,every 3-4 years!!! The ozonator in my spa is a Del-CD 50,which is a Corona discharge system. My understanding of it is,it's somewhat like lightning,and disinfects/kills bacteria.(correct me if I'm wrong) Having a working/functional ozonator aids in chemical usage,and provides peace of mind in regards to getting cooties from your spa.

I keep mine at 101,which is perfect for I. The wifey likes it a little lower,she prefers it at 98-99. To feel warm/hot,it has to be hotter than your core body temp,which for most peeps is 98.6. Our pool currently,with no heater,is 90-92 degrees. We live in Florida,and during the summer months,our pool almost feels like a bathtub. Alternating between the pool and the spa,when entering the pool after using the spa,the pool will feel refreshing/cool. It's a personal preference as far as temp,but it being a "hot" tub,why not use it as such I.E. temp hotter than body temp lol.

Yea I saw one online,which goes for about 11 bucks. It's a one time use,unless no ozone is detected,then you can use it again at a later date. Smells different than prior to replacing guts,and if my memory serves me well,it smells like it did when I first purchased the spa,in 03. I'll assume it works,and monitor chemical usage.

Thx for your help/response. Yes,there is a slight trace of a plastic burnt wire smell,when lifting the cover off. I also smell it very slightly,when soaking in it.

I just recently installed a new ozonator in my spa. The unit hums,and I do see tiny bubbles coming from the discharge/circ pump. Is there a way to truly tell if the unit is generating ozone? Is there a certain smell that's ommitted? Thx, Rich

I would be more concerned over "voltage drop" in regards to the thickness of wire you're using. If your 8/3 wire is in a short run,I wouldn't trip over it How long is the run,the 8/3 wire,from the main to your spa?

Curious,would I be able to purchase a Hydrospa at their cost,and,if I'm able to purchase 1,Can I get New NW Tub Owner to autograph it for me?

Not sure if this is relevant to the topic at hand but...... I had a buddy working at the Master spa plant in Ft. Wayne IND a few years back. The short of it......He wasn't impressed in the least! If it makes ya happy to own a Master spa,more power to ya!

Pretty expensive,if you ask me lol. If your pad is say 80 sq ft.......gonna cost you about 1600 bucks,just for the material. As Chas said,other ways of doing it cheaper.
