Well, today I took the plunge into a dry hot tub! HA!!!!! was so excited that my Saints won that I just dove in!!! Us LA folks are crazy anyway and after the superbowl win last night, things are getting crazier down here in the Fleur de lis state!

I sat in the Solana TX and absolutely LOVED it...not many jets, but loved the way it felt, it fit my body. wish it had water in it, but if it had I might still be sitting there in it!! Then I sat in the Jetsetter, it was OK, but wasn't as comfortble as the solana TX. of course, the warranty is much longer and better on the Jetsetter, Solana tx was on sale for 4000.00 the jetsetter is 6000.00 each are marked as being 1000.00 off regular price. hubby still says no. maybe i should get the solana...only worries me cause with him and me both in it might be crowded, we are short but heavier. any suggestions? also started weight watchers today, maybe I'll lose this extra 30 lbs and will not have crowding issues.,

Hi,

Simply put, dry testing tells you almost nothing. You MUST wet test. If you are self conscious, arrange a private appointment. Any dealer that is serious will have no problems with this.

When we were wet testing, we found the tubs we thought we would like (after just dry testing) we hated, and were very impressed with others that did nothing for us sitting in dry. With such a big investment like this, you will be doing yourself a favor. so that you won't regret this in the long run. Thanks Randy

I just bought a Solana TX after much research and comments from members of the board. It fits perfectly in my small space. We found the tub very comfortable and the jets strong. I love the moto-massage. Nanette likes the other seat with the 8 jets. The foot jet is pretty cool as well. With water, the spa feels much larger than it is. I paid $3400 for the Solana TX which included the cover, step, chemicals, ozonator, delivery and instalation. There was no cost for an electrician since we simply plugged it in to the dedicated outside receptacle. I have back issues so my doctor gave me a script for a theraputic spa. As a result I did not have to pay a sales tax. I live in Delray Beach Florida and the dealers here want to sell spas.

Try to have your dealer lower the price or sweeten the deal with an ozonator or more chemicals or other goodies you may see in his showroom.

The dealer here originally wanted 5000.00 for the solana TX and it was marked down to 4000.00. people here just will not budge on the price of a spa. they are not selling many, but I guess they don't really want to sell, cause they sure won't deal. We live in a rural area of Louisiana and the nearest spa town is 50 miles away and there are only 3 store there, they sell hot springs/solana/hot spot, sundance / garden leisure and Jacuzzi. I have never seen more folks not willing to haggle about the price, its very frustrating. they ALL want to sell their top of the line spas, I just cannot afford that, my hubby doesn't even want me to get one. I am ready to give up

$5000 is WAY high for a TX. Even $4000 is high. All dealers are different but from my experience $3500 is about right.

$4,000 is perfectly on for the Solana TX. That's what we have our last 2009 unit clearanced for. $3,500 would be an outstanding deal. Keep in mind however, getting prices from folks around the country means little to nothing. Cost of living, overhead, taxes, all that stuff differ so much around the country that not everyone can even afford to sell the same model for the same price.

As far as TX vs Jetsetter. You really ought to have your husband sit in the spas with you. If the TX is most comfortable to you, I'd say go for it. However, I had a customer this last summer who purchased the TX and later exchanged it for the Jetsetter, simply because her husband was kind of tall and they needed the leg room.

I always urge folks to sit in the spa before they buy. With an empty dry spa, it only takes seconds to do it. Some folks will tell you dry testing is pointless and says nothing, but that's not true at all. You can sit in a spa dry and determine very quickly if it's the right size, has the number of seats, leg room, etc.

Wet testing is all about feeling the jets, and seeing if you float out of the lounge seat. :P
