mcw53 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Hmmm...sorry but I think the answers obvious Maddy - throw it out and start over! Is this what you put in your spa? This is a pool product with a dosage of 1 ounce per 10,000 gallons. Never heard of anybody putting this in a spa. I agree with Mikey in NY; dump, clean and start over. Quote

Then if that doesnt help I will dump. Wow, that's more than 12x the recommended dosage. One thing for sure, if you did have an algae problem, you don't now. I am not a chemist, but I doubt that bleach will help. If it were me, I would dump it. This product contains some very nasty pesticides as the active ingredients, including the acutely toxic Alkyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride. The Super Algae Guard product label contains the following warning "Causes irreversible eye damage and skin irritation. May be fatal if absorbed through the skin.". So you really need to be careful (gloves, eye protection, etc) when handling this stuff. Quote
quantumchromodynamics Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Drain the tub, clean the filters and refill. There is no need for algaecide in hot tubs. Quote
dtherio Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 That probably explains why I had the same yellow gunk along the water line of my tub. I also put that stuff in. Though the stuff I bought said it was for hot tubs/spas. I have since drained, cleaned and refilled my tub and the problem went away. Quote
