Contrymn Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 I have a 16 x 32 above ground pool with a 1 hp Hayward Power Flo Matrix pump. When I turn my Jandy valve to operate the Pool cleaner there is no suction at pool cleaner and the pump losses its prime. When I turn the Jandy valve in all other directions it works find. I replaced the O ring on pump basket still same problem no suction at pool cleaner and pump losses its prime. The pool cleaner is a Zodiac Ranger and I just installed a new diaphragm. Quote
imnay Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 I'm no expert but if you turn the valves to allow the cleaner to draw in pool water so it can clean and there is no suction and the pump loses prime then you probably have a total clog somewhere in the line or hose between the cleaner and the pump or further back at the valve junction itself. If all else fails try a plumbing snake to push the obstruction out and clear the clog. Best of Luck Quote

Pool Clown Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 If this is an older unit, You may have a cut in the suction hose (age) and if that section of hose is floating on the surface, It could draw air in. Have someone turn the valve for you while you are at the poolside watching the cleaner. See if you can hear it hissing or see the hose jerking around a bit. Quote
