pretzelsb Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 hi all, I am new to this forum, sorry if my questions will appear as naive. I am considerind a kidney shaped (10x20) fiberglass pool for my backyard. With everything involved,(pool, excavation, heater, pump& so on) what type of total expense am I looking at. How much plumbing, andany idea as to cost is involved. Also, what is involved with the excavation? Is it quite cumbersum? When I ask the salesmen involved, all I hear is "don't worry, you will be very happy". Really doesn't answer my question, nor exude any confidence in their company. Any thought, and or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Quote
don pool Posted July 10, 2008 Report Posted July 10, 2008 The price that you will pay is going to be determined by a number of factors. The quality of pool equipment (pump, filter, salt chlorinator, automatic pool cleaner, heater etc.), access to dig the pool and set the pool in the ground, the type of ground they will hit when they are excavating the pool hole, how far the crane will have to reach, how much concrete you will be getting, who makes the pool and how far it will travel from the manufacturing facility to your house, the electrical run etc. etc.. If you are not getting any answers to your questions now from the salesman, watch out! If someone won't spend the time with you in the beginning to explain the process and the cost while they are still trying to make the sale, it's a good indication that they won't be to eager to spend the time dealing with any warranty issues later on. Get as many recent references from the pool company as you can. If they avoid the issue or keep putting off allowing you to see their finished product and talk to former customers, show them to the door. Quote

Crystal Blue Pools Posted July 11, 2008 Report Posted July 11, 2008 Please be sure to check the contractors license number prior to signing a contract with any company. A good idea would be to get a comparable quote from a fiberglass company and one from a gunite builder in your area. Quote
