Building Pool/questions About Pool Products

We are looking to build a pool northeast of Dallas, TX. I have a question regarding pool products that two builders are promoting.

One is Pentair Pool Products and other is Jandi Pool Products. Is anyone familiar with either and has an opinion regarding these companies?

Also, one company is stating for a 16,000 gallon pool, we will only need a 2hp motor. The other company (which hasn't finished the design) is promoting a 4 speed variable motor. Without knowing the pool gallon size, is this a bit of over kill?

Thanks for any and all help. We are new to pool buying and new in trying to "wade" through this process as well. ;)

Pathfinder is correct. Jandy and Pentair are both quality products. You may even consider asking about Hayward (Goldline) equipment as it is just as reliable, but costs less than both Jandy and Pentair. Although I would insist on Jandy NeverLube valves regardless of which equipment package you choose.

A 2hp pump should be fine for your pool. If you are adding a spa, or other water features, they should have their own dedicated pump(s).

Are you planning on having a spa or other water feature? Are going to use an automated pool cleaner? We use Jandy pumps in our pools, they are a great company. Good Luck.
