Fast Ed
I am investigating changing my 25k gal. in-ground plaster pool to salt water chlorination. Las Vegas tapwater has a ph of 7.8 - 8.0, and hardness of 275 ppm or 16 gpg. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions regarding combination salt water chlorine generation combined with mineralization sanitizing, such as Zodiac's Duoclear? dynamictiger
The higher hardness level for the water you are considering strongly suggest either diluting the pool with lower hardness water or purchasing a self cleaning chlorinator as the hardness will clog your cell regularly. In the old days salt chlorinators were not warranted with copper algaecides. Whilst this position has changed more recently I would be reluctant to use one and a copper electrode system of any sort.
