Milky Pool Water

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just opened my 15X24 Esther Williams above ground pool a week ago. Water was green when opened. I shocked, added algecide and adjusted calcium, ph and alkalinity. Water is extremely milky. (Has slight problem with this last year as well).

Levels are now reading:

Total hardness: 300

Total Chlorine: .5 (low)

Free Chlorine: .5 (low)

PH: 7.8

Total Alkalinity: 180

Cyanuric Acid: 20

I realize that my chlorine level is low. If I superchlorinate it will this help? Also, filter has been running for 48hrs straight with no improvements.

Lastly, I also have a hot tub that I use dichlor in. What type of chlorine should I be using in my pool, as to not contaminate my hot tub chemistry when using both the pool then the hot tub? Is dichlor stong enough for my pool? If so, how much should I be adding to my 15x24 pool each day? Thanks for any help.
