  1. Hello, Just opened my 15X24 Esther Williams above ground pool a week ago. Water was green when opened. I shocked, added algecide and adjusted calcium, ph and alkalinity. Water is extremely milky. (Has slight problem with this last year as well). Levels are now reading: Total hardness: 300 Total Chlorine: .5 (low) Free Chlorine: .5 (low) PH: 7.8 Total Alkalinity: 180 Cyanuric Acid: 20 I realize that my chlorine level is low. If I superchlorinate it will this help? Also, filter has been running for 48hrs straight with no improvements. Lastly, I also have a hot tub that I use dichlor in. What type of chlorine should I be using in my pool, as to not contaminate my hot tub chemistry when using both the pool then the hot tub? Is dichlor stong enough for my pool? If so, how much should I be adding to my 15x24 pool each day? Thanks for any help.
  2. Waterbear, I have read various posts regarding hot tub chemicals. I am currently using Ez Spa once a week, along with dichlor for a once a week shock, and renew after each tub use. My question to you is, should I continue using the Ez Spa product? It seems to be working very well, but I'm not sure if it is necessary. Other than the weekly maintenance listed above, I only use, metal gone and PH+ and PH balance when filling the tub. Once my ph is locked I only have to do my weekly routine to keep my tub clean and clear and balanced. I would like to hear your opinion on what I am using. You seem to have a good background on chemicals and I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks, Camfam P.S. Also, should I use the dichlor after each tub use instead of Renew? What's the difference? P.S.S. Here's a link to the Ez Spa product if needed... http://www.ordinis.com/chemistry/ez_spa.htm
  3. I use Leisure Time products along with EZ Spa OM. It really is easy to use. It keeps my water crystal clear, with no smell and no foam. You may want to try it. It is expensive at the dealers, but I found it online at http://store.yahoo.com/cny-tubs/index.html Here's what I use... Leisure Time Metal Gone - when filling the tub Leisure Time PH up - adjust to levels Leisure Time PH Balance - 1 bottle when filling tub, after adjusting Ph levels. This locks in the PH and you don't have to add more PH up for 3 months. Leisure Time Spa 56 (dichlor) - 2 scoops every other week. To fully sanitize. EZ Spa OM - 2 scoops once a week. Keeps the water beautiful, clear, soft and odorless. Leisure Time Renew - 1 scoop after each bathing. Helps activate the chemicals that are already in the tub, and keep it sanitized. So basically I just put chemicals in it after each bathing, and once a week. I also rinse my filters once a week to keep them clean. My opinion, this is very easy and the website above seems to have the best prices. Free shipping if you spend $50 or more. Check it out...
  4. What footsie is saying is that chlorine for pools (trichlor) is different than chlorine for spas (dichlor). Pool chlorine is much stronger and can damage your spa if you use it long term. I use EZ spa (similar to Nature 2) and dichlor shock. It is easy to use and my spa is crystal clear all the time!

  6. We just bought our first hot tub about a month ago. My in-laws have one, and we've been using theirs for years. We finally decided to get one for ourselves. Only one of our friends has a tub. I am 34, and a stay at home mom. My husband, 34 also, is the vp of business development for a financial company in Boston. We love the water, and have had a pool for 5+ years. My husband is an avid runner, so the tub is used for therapy, as well as, for entertaining with friends. We also have two children, 8 & 5 who love the tub. We bought our tub with all of this in mind. We didn't have any issues when we bought our tub, other than the fact that they were surprised that we wanted to pay cash for the tub. We did notice that most of the "other" potential buyers were a bit older than us.
  7. Thanks for the information. Ez Spa seems to be working well for us, I just wanted to get someone elses opinion before I stock up on it. I will check out the website you recommended. Which sanitizer are you using with the EZ spa? Thanks. Oh, by the way, I used the Ph stabilizer when I first filled my tub, and I haven't had to add any Ph + or - to it since. It is expensive ($18/bottle thru the spa dealer), but I think it's worth not having to constantly play with the Ph levels. You may want to check it out.
  8. Need to order chemicals for the first time. My tub came with the EZ spa chemical. I am using it with Spa 56, and renew. And of course PH+ with the stabilizer. The EZ Spa seems to be working well. Should I continue with this product, or switch to another? I am a spa chemistry novice, so please feel free to explain your suggestions in detail. Here's the chemical I am using... http://www.ordinis.com/chemistry/ez_spa.htm
  9. I don't think we are talking about the same chemical. EZ spa is different than EZ Chlor. Check it out here: http://www.ordinis.com/chemistry/ez_spa.htm Does anyone have an opinion on the EZ spa chemical? I need to reorder and would like more information before I do.
  10. Does anyone here have an opinion on the EZ Spa chemical? It came with my spa and I have been using it for a few weeks. It seems to be working well, but not sure if I should continue this or try something else. What are the pros and cons of this chemical?
  11. I bought a floor model. I saved money, got all the options I wanted, and got the full warranty. If the tub has everything you want, and comes with the warranty, why wouldn't you?
  12. I paid $750 for my electric. I only had to run the cable approximately half the distance you need (50ft or so). No digging here either. Same specifications for GFCI too. I don't think that your prices are too high. I'd be afraid of someone only charging $500. All my quotes were between $700-850. I ultimately went with a guy whom I trust. He's done all the electrical work in my basement, and is reliable. That's why we chose him.
  13. I have to agree with both windsurfdog and wmartin. I think that Master dealers need to be judged on an individual basis. Our dealer was/is unbelievable. They have been very professional, and haven't been deceptive about their tubs in any way. They explained to us, the number of jets, and that the foot blasters is counted as multiple jets. My opinion, they should be counted as multiple. They are stronger than any other jets we tested. Ultimately, a dealer who provides great customer service, is the ones you should consider. That's what we did, and are extremely happy with our choice.
  14. Yes. We love having it at home. It is easily accessible, and we have ordered a privacy fence that will be installed within a week or two. It will give us a little more privacy, as right now our neighbors can see us directly from their deck. We're truly enjoying it, I'm beginning to wonder how we ever survived without a tub!!
  15. It's going great. Couldn't have asked for a better tub. I'm sure we'll be enjoying some therapy for many years to come. Thank you for all your advice and opinions. It sure helps to have someone who knows more about tubs than we do. Now if the weather around here would just warm up a little bit!! Last night my footprints froze as I got out of the tub!
