The cover includes a dual cover lift system that helps with the weight of the cover when opening and closing - both the front and back half of the cover. It is a hardcover with non-water absorbing interior insulating foam so it won't become water-logged and heavier over time. It is a bit more expensive than a regular vinyl cover however, you shouldn't have to replace your cover every few years like you do with a traditional cover, and it includes the dual cover lift system.
