Sundance 850 Circuit Board Or Topside Panel Dead?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have a 2000 Sundance with a "6600-028 Rev B" board.

When I power up the hot tub, the topside panel just flashes a "8."

An Eight with a Period. Actually, it will light up for a split second, I will see all the LCD characters light up, then, the mostly solid, very rapidly, flashing "8."

I have already:

-Checked the incoming voltages, 120V, 120V, 240V leg to leg.

-Checked the Transformer voltages.

-Checked all the fuses.

-Checked the resistance of the temp sensor, it is good

-Checked the resistance of the flow meter, it is working.

-Manually, as in jumper out, I can run both main pumps, circ pump and heater

I was told by a local technician to replace both board and topside. I don't have the cash for that!

I did read that if I disconnect the ribbon cable from the topside to the board, and power it up, the circ pump should run.

It does not. In fact, I can unplug the topside, and the only thing that runs is the blower.

If I also unplug the sensor wires (from the J6 connector), same thing happens.

I ended up putting the board on the bench to make sure that some connection or other component is not causing the issue.

Same results.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Anyone near the MA/RI border that can test the board and topside individually?

Thanks,

Brian

If you could get your hands on a techs topside to test your board that would be good. Do you have a dealer that will let you try one? Tell him you'll buy the board and topside from him if it turns out to be that.

I'm a new parts tech sorry. I have 3-4 different topsides plus access to a bunch more that work with about anything. If I plug a good topside in and it still doesn't work I replace the board. Assuming your sensors and power source are good. Sounds like you know enough about checking those.

Clean the pins on the cords and contact surfaces on the board good.
