mhaleusa
Ja4496, Have you used the taylor reagent add on to test for MPS compound? If so, I'm curious if you have been advised what that number should be. Mine was something like 10.2. I'm getting the nature 2 Strips in the mail so I can just read Hi or low... but for now... I'm stuck with a number that I don't know what it means! Thanks!
chem geek
The 10.2 reading from the K-2042 test used in conjunction with the FAS-DPD chlorine test is in ppm chlorine. To convert to ppm monopersulfate, you multiply this number by 5. So you have 51 ppm monopersulfate (this is referenced relative to the triple salt). The Nature2 manual recommends 1 tablespoon of MPS per 250 gallons which is around 20 ppm monopersulfate. So you are about 2-1/2 times higher than needed. Basically, with your Taylor kit, the MPS as chlorine reading needs to be a minimum of 4 ppm.
