If you super chlorinate your tub to 30 ppm, if you have a working ozonator, you may still find your FC at 0ppm when you return. Even if you maintain any FC residual during your absence, that level of chlorine will most likely damage the underside of your spa cover, which means its life expectancy will be reduced. If you drain your tub and you live where temperatures are below freezing, you will need to blow out your lines to prevent freezing and leaks. Even if you blow out the lines, the residual moisture remaining in your tub will still form bio-films and you will most likely need to decontaminate your tub upon your return. My suggestion is to raise your FC level to about 12 ppm when you leave and have someone check your tub while you're gone at regular intervals (about every 4-5 days). Have them add the appropriate amount of chlorine to raise your FC to 10-12 ppm. If you don't have a family member or friend you can trust to do this, most local dealers provide such a service (for a fee).
