Winter Covers

I have a newly installed salt water in-ground pool and am getting ready to call a professional to come close it for me. I have not yet purchased a winter cover and need to do so rather quickly. I see several to pick from online and I would like to get a good one (easy to put on, take off and best protects for the winter). Since i am a new pool owner i do not know which i should be looking at - any suggestions?

Look at a safety cover. The big three are Loop Loc, Merlin and Meyco. There are others but the brands I mentioned are the best. They last longer and use better materials. You pay a little more but its worth it when you amortize it over the 10 to 12 years it will last.

Most dealers by me include installation and a free closing.

I just went with a safety cover for the first time, and am very glad I did.

I got the Merlin Smart Mesh, which supposedly lets water pass through but no light. My installer put it on a couple of weeks ago, and it looks so much better than the tarp type cover, that I used to use, that just layed on the water, and the edges held down on the deck by water tubes. Plus gives me much more peace of mind, knowing pets/ children can't get caught up in it and accidentally drown. I do have trees, so I can just blow the leaves off the top of the cover.

While it was more expensive than what I have used previously, I think it will be well worth the investment for me. My wife is much happier with it's looks as well.
