darkproject2
just seeing if anybody uses tank water to fill you hot tub? currently where we are in Australia, we are at stage 4 restrictions due to dam levels. NO water of plants, gardens, gras,s cars, even you widnows etc. You can still top up or fill a spa if it is less than 2000 litres by bucket from inside your house (which mine is) but I feel that I should not with how bad things are. Does anybidy uses tank water to fill up your spa, if so how are the total dissolved solids ( i know it will depend on how clean you gutters are and how long the water has been sitting). anybody else face this issue????? Well, I'm sorry nobody else has responded. I guess you could fill the tub and see how it goes. You would sure want to avoid whatever is settled in the bottom of the tank. Perhaps draw the water off carefully by siphon or dipping it out with a bucket or similar. And if you have a dealer nearby who can test water, I would think testing for TDS would tell you how the water is doing. Once you have the water balanced and chlorinated it should be fine. Jim_The_Jim
You should have the water tested for TDS and minerals. I would try to use a system that uses less chemicals so that you don't have to change the water very often. Here are some possibilities. Copper, silver, Zinc ions with a chlorine generator. The Chlorine generator (low levels of chlorine) will not need much of anything. It will stay in balance with very few chemicals. Eco One with 24 hour ozone. I ran a spa for 18 months on one fill up. Just toped it off as needed. http://www.soundclick.com/havenhead
