Pyrojim
This is fairly strange. I have an old heater. Its a Teledyne-Lars Series-1. When I first turn it on, it ignites perfectly. It brings the pool or spa up to temp and shuts off normally. When the spa cools, and calls for more heat, I can hear the igniter come on, but it fails to reignite. It usually times out without relighting. Here is the strange part: If, while it is trying to re-ignite, I turn the gas shut-off valve almost completely off, the heater instantly ignites. Then I just turn the shut-off valve back to full on and it heats fine. But I have to repeat this to get it to reignite. Any clues whats causing this? Thanks, JIM
Bugman1400
My guess is the regulator or gas valve. I had a gas valve doing the same thing because the gas pressure was too high. The reason the pressure was too high was because I did not have a regulator. Once I put in the regulator, the pressure was reduced and allowed the gas valve to operate correctly. I have not had an issue since.
