Hello,

New here... any owners on this forum of a Marquis Mirage?... looking for any info, such as approx purchase price, energy efficiency in cold weather climate. pros/cons on this model... currently the owner of a low end starter tub, which has worked well for me over the past 5 years, except the high electric costs which forced me to close the tub down in the winter. any thoughts on Marquis quality in general?.. was originally looking to purchase next spring, but seriously thinking now of taking the leap now if the price was right... I had originally just stopped in the local Marquis dealer for some basic info and was quoted $6500.00 for the Mirage... Is this a good price?... any info is much appreciated... Thanks!

All Marquis spas are fully foamed but a big part of heat loss is through the cover so Marquis uses 2lb density foam cores plus the addition of a foam seal down the fold of the cover. So between the spa and cover it is a very efficient unit.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

You can also call the factory and they will answer anything for you: 800-275-0888.

Perhaps this is true with the regular Marquis line of spas. However, I have a (Marquis) Everyday 660 and had to add "full foam" as an option. My cover (don't know the density, but suspect it may not be 2lb) does not have the continuous foam in the hinge. There are two foam blocks - one at each end. I have used a temp sensor gun and there is definite heat leakage through the hinge. I guess these are two of the areas where they were able to cut the cost of the Everyday line.

I just don't know if it would pay to replace my <1yr old cover for a more efficient one. There's no way to quantify the cost of the heat loss. When it needs replacing, though, it will be a no-brainer to get the denser foam and full foam in the hinge.

Ask the dealer if there is an aftermarket hinge seal you can velcro in place.

Good idea! I didn't know those were available.

Yes, I have a Marquis Mirage that I had installed in January 2011. We love it and use it nightly. There are lots of great jets and comfortable seats. It's very energy efficient. We find the quality to be excellent. We've had no problems at all. We use the natural water conditioner rather than bromine and chlorine although we use dichlor a few times a week and sometimes a non-chlorinated shock. My electric bill might have gone up $10-15 a month, tops. We hooked it up to 220v rather than use 110. I don't keep it that hot, 100-101 through the winter and 97-98 now that it's warmer. I do live in a very moderate climate, though. Our winter temperatures are in the 40's. We got a floor model for $6395 total. It had an ozonator and constellation lights as an upgrade. We did add the cover lift and stairs for an extra $300. Installation was included although we did pay the ferry charge for the truck since we live on an island that is accessed only by ferry. ($125 round trip) Hope that helps in your decision. I just wish we had bought ours sooner!

Hey, Thanks so much for the info!.... still contemplating rather or not I should bite the bullet now, or wait til next year (which was the original plan)... One other question I had on the Mirage, is how many people does it fit "comfortably" without feeling to cramped?... I usually use my tub alone, but on a rare occasion, might have 3/4 people over for a soak.... I can't really consider a larger tub, due to lack of space...... Thanks again!

It's rated to hold 5 people but will fit 4 comfortably. My husband and I use it every night but will have company in a few weeks so will let you know how it works with more people in it. The Mirage is curved and fits on our deck between two posts from our balcony above. I don't know how to post a picture of it! Maybe I could email you directly.
