Tubber McGee
Hello, Getting ready to take delivery on my new tub and was wondering if I should fill the tub with hard water or soft water? Pretty sure my outside faucets are hard water as they bypass my water softner. If I need to fill with soft water - I need to fill from one of my inside faucets! If it matters - the tub will be a Salt Water System (Hot Spring ACE System) Thanks alot!
Gouie
Not sure if the requirement differs for salt, but non-salt tubs do require some hardness to prevent corrosion. Unfortunately my outdoor faucets are softened requiring me to add hardness to the water after each water change.
SparkysPool
Soft Soft Soft It will keep the plates in the salt system from having to be cleaned. Just switched over to soft bought a softener just for the pool and hot tub. After having trouble with the plates needing to be cleaned every day. tylemandan
Tubber, The Ace system was meant to work for soft water. It states in the owners manual that ideal hardness for Ace is between Min 25 ppm and Max 75ppm. Hot Spring does have a product called Vanishing Act which is a soft bean bag type product you place over the heater return. It removes excessive calcium from the water. Usually the Ace kits come with one Vanishing Act "brick" But it would be easier/faster to use the soft water from inside the house. Happy soaking. spawn
Tubber - You have already received the correct answer to your question. I was just going to jestingly suggest that you fill it with mostly soft water for comfort but float an inch or two of hard water on top to reduce evaporation / condensation / off-gassing...
