Pauly
Hello, I am new to the daily maintenence of a pool. I am noticing that when my filter is on, after six hours or so, thee is a build up of dirt and or sand in spots throughout the pool (gunite). When I left the filter off for 40 hrs or so, there was no sandy dirt build up. Can anyone explain what might be happening here? Is there anything I can do on my own with the filter? The pool company that opens and closesthe pool is extremely busy and slow respond to any service calls. Thank you for any help / advice you could provide!! kew659
I have recently started experiencing the same and would be very interested in what is causing this. The sand is in both the pool area as well as the jacuzzi tub. I have recently replaced the filter cartridge in hopes that would eliminate the problem but no luck. thanks to who ever can answer our question. I think you need to replace your filter cartridge. Manay time due to chocking problems the filter gets stocked.

What it sounds like is that you might possibly have a broke lateral. An easy way to do check this is to stick panty hoes on the returns. If you have sand chances are that a lateral is broken. This means digging all the sand out and checking all the laterals.

Pauly
Thank you all for these answers - my only question now is how do I get panty hose to stay on the returns long enough to see if the sand is coming out! I figure something out - thanks again.
