Sharrah
I have a 16x42 intex easy set pool. I have heard you can use regular liquid bleach instead of those chlorine tablets made for pools. Is this right?
chem geek
Yes you can. You can read more about maintaining smaller pools here which is part of the Pool School that you can also read. Just be sure to add ANY concentrated chemical, including chlorine, slowly over a return flow with the pump running and then lightly brush the side and bottom of the pool where you add the chemical to ensure thorough mixing. You should have some Cyanuric Acid (CYA) in the water before you use chlorinating liquid or bleach, but you probably have plenty of CYA (maybe even too much) if you've been using stabilized chlorine such as Trichlor pucks/tabs. poolguyinsc
You can also throw a chlorine tablet in your washer to make your whites sparkle, but I wouldn't recommend it. Use pool chemicals in your pool and laundry chemicals in your laundry.
PaulR
Pool-store "liquid chlorine" is sodium hypochlorite, 10% or 12.5%. Regular unscented Clorox is sodium hypochlorite, 5% or 6%. it IS exactly the same stuff. Approved for pool sanitation. Some additional info available here. --paulr
