Cover Lifter Recommendation

Recommended Posts

We didn't get a lifter with our tub because it was going to be recessed into our deck (or should I say, the deck was going to be built around it) and we wanted to see how things worked out and what options we'd have. Well, the deck is almost done and we're not sure which way to go with a lifter.

I've got plenty of room behind the tub - so space isn't an issue - but we don't want anything to block our view. Any suggestions? The Cover Shelf looks interesting. Does anyone have one...or any suggestions?

Thanks!

I would look at the Covermate line. We give one to each customer who purchases a new hot tub, plus we sell them in the retail stores as well. They are very easy to install and are very good quality. Each version of the Covermate attaches and rests the cover differently, so you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

You can view the different Covermate styles here: http://www.sunplay.com/spaaccesories.html

Is it still going to be recessed in the deck or did that change?

I would get a cover shelf or a cover cradle. Cover shelf is two L shaped bars that fold out and you just push the cover on it. And a cover cradle is a system that uses hydrolics but it does block your view by about a foot. Google them and you will be able to see pictures.

Based on recommendations that I've read on here over the past year or so, I just ordered the CoverUp brand of spa lift. It's supposed to arrive in a day or two, so I'll know then if it was worth it.

If anyone in the Minneapolis area wants to buy a cover basket (or cradle) thing, I have one I'm willing to sell. It's used, and nothing wrong with it, it just wouldn't work for my application.

Okay, I didn't realize that your spa was sunk into the deck. Guess I should have paid attention.

Forget my recommendation.

If the deck is high enough, do you even need a cover shelf? Can't you just slide your cover onto your deck? Or maybe put a couple of rollers that you could slide the cover on to?

This product might work well for your application

I built my deck around my tub. The deck is about 14" below the top of the tub. This lift should work for you...

http://www.spacoverbuydirect.com/cover_lif...covermate3.html

that site didnt say anything about which lifter was the easiest to use.

to me that would be a very important factor on buying one ..as these covers get heavy sooner or later..

My mom's hot tub was sunk into the deck, we just slide it over onto the deck when we wanted to use it.

My tub is sitting on a concrete slab. I made my own cover lifter out of steel electrical conduit for about $20 and 45 minutes of my time.
