baggies Posted September 6, 2009 Report Share Posted September 6, 2009 Hi New to this so will have to bear with me, recently purchased new hot tub and after about 4 weeks of use I have to keep adding Ph increaser as the Ph is droppingon a daily basis the Hot tub is used regular and the clarity of the water is good have had some foaming issues which seem to have been resolved with the use of anti foam. However, since you keep adding pH Increaser to no avail, I'm curious as to whether you've tested your alkalinity. If your alkalinity is low, your pH isn't going to go up and stay there. Test that and see if alkalinity needs increased. Depending on the other chemicals you're using (like Bromine tablets for example) you may find your pH drop on a regular basis. Peteyboy Posted September 11, 2009 Report Share Posted September 11, 2009 I agree with Jerimiah. Test the Alkalinity. It buffers pH so it will not fluctuate. Tablets are very acidic. Bromine tabs about a 3 on the pH scale and chlorine tabs about a 1. Where balanced pH is 7.2 - 7.6. The pH scale is like a Richter scale, it works exponentially. Lets say you compare a 7.0 earthquake with a 7.2 - 7.2 is a much bigger earthquake, so if you have a pH of 6.8 compared with 7.2 you are considered pretty low. It's good to hear you are concerned about the pH. Many of my customers kill their spa by disregarding the pH. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thankyou to all of those who replied the information has been extremely helpful and it looks like I might be able to enjoy my tub for a little while, or until the next problem.
