Pool Clown Posted July 22, 2009 Report Share Posted July 22, 2009 Helps to separate the low pressure (vacuum) from the high pressure. Some pumps will still prime without it but will do so at a reduced flow rate. A portion of the water will just go round and round in the pump without it. Replace it if it's missing/ broken.
