Backflushing

Recommended Posts

I backwash when the PSI has gone up "enough." How much that is depends on your filter. I expect the manual provides some info on this.

No manual. Could probably find one online though. The house had been empty for ~ 3 years. We are thankful the pool was closed properly & seems to be working well. The hot tub that was here originally disappeared at some point; was actually yanked away from the power lines & the LIVE line left laying on the ground. Good times!

Usually a 10 psi rise in filter pressure indicates the need to backflush.

It is almost always demand dependent; when opening a swamp you may need to do it several times an hour whereas if you have an indoor pool with no bathers and a good cl level it may last much much longer.

Ah, thank you. That explains why when we opened 'the swamp' we had to backflush every 2 hours or so 'cause . . . EwW.
