Coping, Bond Beam & New Deck Advice

Hi,

3 years ago we replastered, retiled, and put new coping stones on our 35+ yr. original Sylvan pool. We live in New York. We are now ready (can afford) to replace the original concrete deck surrounding the pool.

The new coping brick stones are approximately 1 inch shorter than the old concrete coping, therefor, the bond beam extends an inch or so beyond the underside of the coping. Now that we want to replace the deck, I want to ensure that the new deck does not interfere with the pool beam but do not want a huge space/expansion joint between the coping and new deck. Any suggestions on how to apply a new deck to meet the coping but not adhere or interfere with the bond beam below?

When you remove your old deck, cut the bond beam and remove some if your worried. An experienced contractor will have no problem, dont worry.
