  1. Without going into details of pump and filter, model and size, etc. I went away for a week. A neighbor who was watching the house noticed the pool pump was on, assumed we forgot to shut it off, and shut off the timer. It has now been off "4 or 5 days", in Arizona. I turned it back on, the pump started and ran for about 5 minutes, but no water flow. I shut the pump off, did not want to burn it out. Should it take that long to get started again, having been off 4-5 days?
  2. I moved into a home with a spa....It was dirty and had a leak at the pump. I was able clean and fix the spa which I am very happy about, however now I cannot find the filter part number. I have checked online everywhere that I can think of. I emailed Coleman but they do not have the information because it was built prior to 4/1/2010. If anyone out there has one of these or knows how I can find this information I would greatly appreciate it. Coleman Spa by Maax Model 107 Twilight Thank you so much Jessica
  3. Hello all, I've had my current spa filter cartridge for just over a year now and am wondering if it needs to be changed. I've checked a few places online that say what an expended filter should look like but mine seems to be in great condition. The ends are not cracked and have very little discoloration. The white filter material is white and clean. (We use the tub about once a week, 2 people) The only spot I see a little debris is in the middle if I push open the filter "blades" and look between. It's mainly cat hair. That stuff get everywhere.... Anyways, should I not risk it and buy a new one, or keep this filter for another year? I don't want to needlessly spend money on a new filter when not needed.
  4. Hi all. i'm hoping someone can help me with a stripped T-Bolt on my Pentair Filter Clamp model 190003. The threads on the T-Bolt are partially stripped so it wont screw completely tight. So my question is, I see a bunch of places selling replacement T-Bolts but there's no info on how to replace it. The Bolt looks like it was put in place then the fastener was welded to hold the bolt in place. If there any way to replace it without welding it?
  5. Can anyone tell me why the pool water level drops when I set my vari-flow valve to filter and it sends the water out to my drain? I have to keep a hose running into my pool because if not the level drops so low that the skimmer can't function. A pool guy told me I needed to change out my sand filter, which i have done, and it continues to do it. I want the water to be filtered by my sand filter, but instead it goes down my sewer drain. Any help is appreciated!
  6. I have the Pentair Easy Touch. When I want to turn my pool heater on, I use my easy touch buttons and my pool heater will turn on, however, since my filter is scheduled to shut off at 8pm, the pool heater will shut off at 8pm. How do I make my filter to stay on as long as my pool heater?
  7. Well, I've determined that my filter housing is kaput......the check valve spring in the bottom is is broken. Can't find a replacement part (thought it was a DynaFlo...but it's not.) and probably couldn't replace the valve anyway based on the location. Anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and change the entire housing out. Fortunately, easily accessible...and I found the cost is less than $80 bucks. Dynaflo makes 2 types of filter housings available in the size I need; a "high volume" 15 gal per minute, and a "low volume" 8 gal per minute. How do I decide which filter "volume" I need? Is one better than the other. Does it have any affect on jet pressure, etc? Thanks.
  8. Hello All. I recently acquired a hot tub from a friend who bought a home where the spa was left behind. Being It was in good shape, I took it, wired it up (with help from this forum) and voila, she's running fine. However, I do have a few concerns/questions about the filter system. This spa uses a WaterWay DynaFlow.....like this one: It sits in my tub in this position: Does anyone know how these filter/skimmers work? Is the skimmer weir supposed to float at the water's height? When I turn on the jets, the skimmer weir sinks back into the filter basket housing. Is that what it's supposed to do? Also, the suction feels DANGEROUSLY high when the jets are on. I mean, it really pulls hard. With nothing covering the area,,,,,I'm worried about someone getting too close and ..........well......better not to think about that. Thanks for any info that might help me out.
  9. Sorry I'm on a break at work and don't have brand names, but I'll do the best I can to describe my problem. My pool has a small mesh filter attached to the end of the cleaner hose that fits in the pool wall. We have a lot of trees that drop debris in the fall and spring, and this filer gets plugged multiple times a day basically shutting down my pool cleaner. The trees aren't dropping as much now that it's summer, but the filter still gets clogged daily. Once I hose it out and replace it, the sweep works great. The problem is that I don't have time to do that every day, so my pool looks like Loc Ness. I talked with a buddy of mine who does pool service, but unfortunately is too busy to do a housecall for me, and he said that filter should only need a cleaning every couple of months. He said most only need semi or annual cleanings. He said this indicated something upstream in the pump that's broken. I'm a web developer not a pool guy. Can anyone suggest where I'd start? The pool is a lovely combination of green and brown algae now. I had the chemicals absolutely dialed in two weeks ago, but unless I clean that wall filter daily the chemicals go south on me. Thanks in advance - sleepydad
  10. New to this forum and getting ready to build a 20x40 igp. I would like to know which chlorine generator, heat pump, pool pump, control system, and light system they prefer. Here is what I am considering. A 30" hayward 2 inch pipe 1.5 hp 2 speed pump, a aqua pro 1300 heat pump (125 btu) , color logic led light, aqua-rite & 40k salt cell. I found this kit at Royalswimmingpools.com. I am also looking into a robotic cleaner. I live in southern Missouri and it will have unobstructed sunshine most of the day. Any input is appreciated. I plan to hire a contractor to do the install, as I do not have the time, talent, or tools for the job. Thanks again. I will keep everyone posted with pictures and progress.
  11. I am enjoying my second season of being a pool owner, but I am still trying to figure things out. Anyway, I have a Pentair IntelliChlor that is hooked up to an EasyTouch control system. My filter is on an automatic timer and is set to go off at 6 pm. Last night around 8 pm, I noticed that the pool filter was still on and the IntelliChlor output had all 5 lights green. At first I thought the system boost was on, but the lights are not flashing, they are solid. I double checked all the settings on the EasyTouch, but they were as they should be (the output was set to 45% for the pool and 2% for the spa). When I changed it on the EasyTouch, nothing happened to the green lights on the IntelliChlor. I checked the chlorine level in the pool and it is extremely high. The only thing I could think to do was to put it in service mode. Any ideas?
