  1. You need a gfci in your main panel to protect the circuit should it be used for some other purpose, being as it is close to a water vessel. your spa.
  2. I'm not that familiar with the brand, I did a google search and found a web site on them, and realized I had seen them at a spa show. You can buy them on line and also through a dealer. I would advise you to do a dealer search to see if anyone sells them near you in case you need parts. It sounds like a good deal if all you're looking for is a starter spa for couple years. Make sure you see it running first though.
  3. Congratulations on your new spa! You ended up getting a good deal considering all the extras included. just curious how the price came down so much from your original quote of $6400. Anyway, enjoy.
  4. Just to add to chas's comments, there are models without the Moto, but you can't take a moto out and replace it with something else.
  5. Both surfaces are very resiliant to damage, however if you decided to vandalise your spa, you would find it easier to scratch the smooth finish and it shows water spots easier than the granite, having said all that I would'nt make that a deciding factor, go with what you prefer as you are the one that will be looking at it for the next 20 years. Oh, one more thing, if you have underwater lighting it will show better in the smooth white.
  6. Do you have a limited warranty on leaks? Insist the contractor addresses the problem. If not you may have to get a shovel and start digging, but this should not be your problem on a new pool!
  7. Vicia, the Jetsetter price is high, where do you live?
  8. GG is the new grandee H.P version with the two Double motos, G is the earlier EE version
  9. Never buy anything unseen, if you can't sit in it, see it or touch it, you may not want to drop several thousand dollars into it!!
  10. There are about a 150 spa manufacturers out there represented by lots of sales people who beleive their spa is best, I'm one of them. Shop around a bit more, La & catalina are o.k and have alot of glitz, check out some of the other major players, Hotsprings, Sundance, D1, Marquis to name a few, then post your findings here, good luck.
  11. Sorry you were abused , but at least your'e still
  12. Go with your gut, for what it's worth in mhop look at hotsprings: they are normally less expensive than D1 and and have some unique features. Steel frame/ wood frame, would not be a selling feature. Most important is: Quality construction, comfort, size , seating preferance, warranty, (get it, read it, dismiss the BS) Dealers credentials and credibility, are far more important than price.
  13. You get what you pay for....it's the american way & it's why we all can make a living. Nobody works for free, it's called overhead.
  14. Scubacurt, you did the right thing, although you may want to repeat your'e best offer to them after a cooling down period, it sounded like a knee jerk reaction by the owner to one of his sales team "You sold it for what!"
  15. Chas, I wondered if that was you. Nice to hear from you buddy.
  16. Born in Manchester, England, served 23 years in the British navy, landed on the East coast of the States 15 years ago, tried various new careers until getting into the Pool & Spa industry 7 years ago. Found out I have a talent for selling spas, in particular Hotsprings & Tiger River. (In my best year I personally sold 175 spas for my company and over a 150 Pools.) I am now the sales manager for the company and we have 3 stores. Married for the 3rd time, 4 kids, 29, 25, 4 & 1, this is not a typo! Have learned a lot from this and other spa forums.
  17. Who on earth could you be talking about? Good post!
  18. Tri-ex filters can only fit on HotSpring Spas, Tiger River & Caldera use a differant size filter.
