  1. Ive been using Spa Magic now four six months, and my familly just loves it. No more real dry skin from chemicals. I love the minimal up keep too
  2. Last time i had white floating stuff, that would also sink to the bottom it was calcium. All i did was run the jets and clean the filter everyday until it was gone.
  3. Hi there, I'm in Canada so my choices of hot tub chemicals is somewhat limited. I'm tired of getting dry skin and red bumps once and awhile from the Bromine. I found this product called spa Magic, which is natural seeweed enzymes and is a stand alone product, you dont need Chlorine or Bromine. Has anyone on this forum, used this product with or without success. In Canada it is called spa Solutions. thanks
  4. Hi Lynn Oxy Brite is only a non chlorine shock and as such will not do anything unless you have a Bromide bank in your tub that the oxy brite can activate to produce Bromine. I too have a hot tub with a CD ozonator and a 24 hour hush pump that runs my ozone 24 hours. Simply ozone is more of an oxidizer than a sanitizer, that is why you must keep a minimum Bromine/Chlorine level of 1-2 PPM. If you only rely only on your ozonator, you have to remember that only the water that is running through the ozonator is being treated not the entire tub. When you enter the tub you are bringing bacteria in that affects the whole tub, your ozonator will not be able to keep up. the ozonator will allow you too not have to worry about giving the tub a super shock to rid it of Chloramines and odors, but cannot be trusted as a sanitizer alone. I have a Beachcomber 750 which is a 1500 litre tub, what i did is i bought a Bromine tablet dispenser and i leave the floater in the tub all the time, with the dial set at 2.5. This gives me a constant Bromine level of 1.5 PPM, so i always know the water is clean. You will need to add some Sodium Bromide at start up, then after each time you use the tub, throw 1 teaspoon of Oxy Brite in to kill any bacteria that you introduced in the tub. This will raise you Bromine levels and kill everything, then your levels will go back down to the minimum, where your floater will keep the level. This allows you too keep a safe tub with minimal chemical use, then once a week during your weekly maintenance you will add a couple of tablets to your floater and thats it for sanitizer. You don't want to get hot tub Folliculitis from not enough sanitizer, trust me its not pleasant. He are some levels you want to strive for: Bromine/Chlorine: 1-2PPM with an ozonator T.A.: 100-120 P.H. 7.4-7.6 Calcium Hardness 150-250 Change water when TDS reaches 1500 Go to this website he answers every possible question you could have about water chemistry. http://www.askalanaquestion.com/ozonators1.htm Chris
  5. Hi everyone, I am looking at using the Micropure micron disposible filters and was wondering if anyone out there has used them. They say you will have crystal clear water without using any defoamers, stain and scale, clarifiers and cleaners. All you do is replace the filter every 3-5 months. Any information would be apreciated. thanks
  6. I too am in Canada, and we did a wet test in the D1 serena bay and the Beachcomber 750. My wife is 5'6" and found the D1 a little too deep for her. I also found the D1 a little crowded inside the shell. We decided to go with the 750 because it is nice and open and in the summer our twins can play in it.. Go wet test from a few companies and the one perfect for you, should jump right out at you. good luck
  7. I'm 6-2 and found the Beachcomber 750 to be the deepest and most comfortable, go give one a try, works for both of us
  8. I purchased a Beachcomber hot tub model 750 eight weeks ago, and absolutely love it.. I looked at everything that was available and found it to be by far the most comfortable and biggest bang for the buck. They also have great customer service at head office. We looked at the 740 but found the lounger to be too boyant and useless when in the tub, plus took up alot of room, thats why we went with the 750. The 24 hour hush pump works really great at keeping the water clear and i havent noticed an increase on my eletricity bill, and i live in cold Canada. It only comes with a 25 sqft filter, which is good but as part of your deal make them give you the 50 sqft filter and you wont have any clarity problems. I did alot of research on the Beachcomber tubs, if you have any other questions, just e-mail me at jcgauvin@hotmail.com chris
  9. I certainly am! I've been in it every night since I got it (sometimes more than once) and a few times during daytime on weekends. Last night it was ridiculously (read: unseasonably) warm outdoors: 48F on the wall thermometer at 10:30 p.m. We've been enjoying springlike weather the past few days (I passed a guy on the highway, today, with his convertible top down ) but those of us who are seasoned New Englanders KNOW that it's only a mere matter of days before the "snow" hits the fan! Just the other night, whilst soaking, I realized that I was HOPING for it to snow soon so that I can enjoy the flakes coming down while I'm in the tub. Trust me when I tell ya that it's been a good manmy years since I've hoped for more snow. Enjo the warm weather.. I too had a great soak last night but it was -10 celsius up here in Alberta canada..
  10. I had the same problem with what looked like oil residue on the water surface. I tried shocking and everything and nothing worked until I used 6 ounces or Purezymes or Enzymes, and then 2 ounces of pure blue or clarifier, and this worked great. The filter will then be able to clear up the water.
  11. I tried it last night and my PH and akalinity seem to be doing okay.. Let's hope this trend continues
  12. that's a good question, what are you using in your tub.
  13. I would use either Ebay or the bargain finder for your area
  14. I'm having the same problem, how much baking soda are you adding at a time, and how much does it raise your TA chris
  15. I am using Beachcomber products, and they say the PH is really low, but i don't know what it is. I put four tablespoons of PH minus in today and got the PH down to 7.2 and TA too 80, let's see if this works. thanks roger chris
  16. No unfortunately i am retesting the PH about one hour later and getting the 7.6 reading, then it shoots back up to 8.2 the next morning. I am also using dpd reagent test as well as test strips for TA.
  17. I purchased a beachcomber 750 six weeks ago, and we just love this tub.. Very comfortable and good for the kids. good luck
  18. Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with this frustrating problem. New hot tub owner for six weeks, and i am using Bromine tablets in a floater. When i get the water tested by the dealer, i am told that all the readings are perfect except the PH is 8.2-8.4. Everyday i am throwing 1 tablespoon of PH minus in the tub to drop the PH to 7.6, but 12 hours later it's always back up to 8.2. I've been playing this game now for a month. My TA is always raised and i keep it around 110, the dealer just tells me that because i have an ozonator that runs 24 hours, i will always have a high PH and not to worry about it. Any help would be apreciated if someone has had the same problem? There statement defies everything i've read on the web. Anyone know if there could be something in the water that is causing the PH to always rise back up, even without us using the tub. Just for reference, BR is 5ppm, TA is 110, CH is 150, acid is 5, and TDS is 600....as usual PH is 8.2 thanks chris
