  1. Hey all- I think I have narrowed in down to the Sundance Optima and just accepted the fact that me (at 6'4") and my fiance (at 5'3") aren't going to both fit in every seat...so quit looking for that...it is physically impossible. Anyway, we really like the Sundance Optima for many reasons and I was wondering what a "good buy" would be in terms of price for a 2005 or 2006 model (no stereo). Thanks all! -Rookie
  2. I agree...wet test...but I think you will find that Sundance has almost completely eliminated the problems that you had with your 11 year old spa. For that matter, most companies have. Anyone still using an 11 year old manufacturing process is probably selling tubs at Costco for $3,000 now. Good luck! I don't own any...but I can tell you from my research that Sundance is the best overall...in terms of technology, manufacturing, convenience features, asthetics and service...they are getting my money in about 15 days. Good luck!
  3. Is it a quality company with a longstanding tradition of successful manufacturing and financial stability?
  4. Does anyone know anything about the Spa manufacturer - Bullfrog? www.bullfrogspas.com They have these removable jetpaks so you can customize the massage to the seat you want it in. Again, with the height difference between me and my fiance perhaps this is the perfect solution? Thanks all for any input-
  5. Dave - we were only going to sink it half-way. I checked out the Dimension One today...it was okay...I wasn't overly impressed but the sales guy was nice (which won't make me part with $9,000 - however). He said Artesian was a lesser brand...but I don't think so...I really like them and would be inclined to pick that one up. I would however allow for removable panels on the sides so the tech could access the outer shell of the spa. HS Grandee, Artesian Piper Glen, Sundance Optima - given my fiance and my situation - anyone want to weigh in with a vote? Assume dollars are equal. Thanks!
  6. So Artesian is a quality brand with good components and a solid financial backing?
  7. Hey SpaTech - I was thinking of having my spa sunk 1/2 into the ground and then above ground the other half and building a 3-sided wall around it to give it a more "planned for" appearance in the yard. I here that spa repairmen have to be able to access 3 sides of the artesian due to the fact that each motor (6 total) is placed by its respective seat in the Piper Glen...can you verify or deny this claim that you would need access to 3-sides of the tub? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the info. Dave. How about anyone else? Which one has the best filtration system? And - will the Piper Glen's ozonator stain my cover when it is on since a bit of ozone is reaching the air before it become O2 (oxygen). HS really pumped up the fact they had a mixing chamber and that by the time in enters the spa where humans are - it is already converted to oxygen (02). Please advise. Does Artesian make a quality brand and stand behind their product? Is the Artesian stereo truely marine grade? The Sundance stereo appered more durable..not just a car stereo head unit? Thanks
  9. Also, I was told by a competiting dealer that Artesian has not mastered the ozonator process and that the process they employ in the water will damage the shell and potentially the cover when it is on. Also, he said the Artesian runs its ozonator all the time which may have a harmful effect on humans, since the effects of breathing O3 (ozone) are largely unknown. Did I get fed a line of B.S.?? -Rookie
  10. I have been debating over several brands and Artesian is one of them. The dealer who is currently carrying them recently merged with an east coast company to carry the Artesian line. I like the HS Grandee and the Sundance Maxxus (but want to get a hot tub that is both comfortable for me at 6'4" and my fiance, who is 5'3" and can seat at least 5-6 people - preferably 500+ gallons). Can anyone tell me about the quality of the Artesian Piper Glen? I have tons of research and info. on the HS and Sundance and would really like to hear from those of you in the business and those of you who own an Artesian spa. Thanks! -Rookie
  11. But I really wish the Grandee had the kind of foot massager that the Maxxus has. That is one thing I think Sundance has over HS. If you were to say which one filtered better...which would it be? The HS Grandee or the Sundance Maxxus? Thanks!
  12. Okay...so marine grade stereo aside...for our height differences we ought to get ourselves the HS Grandee it sounds like. At 38" deep she will be more than enough under water and I will be sufficiently under unlike my wet test of the Optima. True?
  13. Thanks all for taking a minute to read this. I am "spa rookie" and need to have a few of my questions answered if at all possible. 1. In my city, I can't wet test either the HS Grandee or the Sundance Maxxus because the showrooms only have dry models on their floor. I have tested the HS Vanguard and Envoy and also the Sundance Optima but because both models are quit a bit smaller than the Grandee and the Maxxus, I don't think the wet test in those accurately portrays the soak I would get in the larger models. 2. My fiance is 5'3" and I am 6'4" and we are going to be the two primary users of the tub. I really fit well in the Maxxus (dry) and the Gradee (dry) but I am apprehensive that she is going to sit too low in those and I don't like the "booster seat" option as I think it is a solution for kids...not my future wife! 3. I love the Sundance stereo (that is a marine unit, correct?) and I think it is a good value. However, the HS stereo (while a cool concept with no speakers in the tub) is just a "cheesy" looking unit on the outside of the shell. 4. The difference in depth is HS (38") and Sundance (42.5"). This is great for me as it allows all of my torso to get underwater without slouching my butt off the seat. However, will my fiance have trouble staying "tall enough" to enjoy the soak? 5. The sales rep for Sundance said I needed to replace their "horizontal filter" (Micron II) every six months or so at about $80/each...which sucks. She also explained that it was not cleanable and can't be measured in terms of how many sf. it cleans effectively. Odd...please shed some light. Any help you could shed would be great. I wish I could wet test the two models I am considering, but unfortunately the dealers in my area of Northern CA haven't made the possible. Also, HS claims to sell 60,000 hot tubs a year. Any idea how many Sundance sells? From my research HS seems to be a conservative "looking" brand with very minimal "upgrades." Thanks for any help- Confused-
