  1. I have an old pool cover that i am replacing, it has a blue and black side with a foam core, I have no idea where the previous homeowner got it from but the two dealers in my area have no clue.... help.
  2. the J1000 is the control system for the J400 series, 2010+. It has an LCD color display. The 06-09 J400 has an LED large oval display, these tubs have circuit board issues because of capacitor bulge, which is actually a supplier problem that affected everyone using these specific caps. I was just at Jacuzzi Technical training and the fella teaching it specifically told us they have only had to change out a handful of the control panels (boards).
  3. i think you have that backwards n1oty. the j1000 has been virtually trouble free. 06-09 boards had bad capacitors from the supplier in them, jacuzzi has since fixed that problem. I will mention that warranties are non-transferable.
  4. sundance and Jacuzzi are very similiar in build. Lights are tough to troubleshoot, one bad light can cause all the others to act up. essentially you need to unplug all lights and start plugging in one at a time and checking for operation, when the bad one gets plugged it will start to act funny. this light could have also taken out one of your zones on your blue controller (dcu), compounding the issue. I would start by replacing the waterfall light that was initially not performing and go from there. Good luck, lights are my least favourite thing to diagnose. Hate it actually. as far as what goes where....i dont have the manual on me at this moment, I will look though and post back here if there is a specific order.
  5. the filter side is the one with the grate in the bottom where the filter screws into, wrap a towel around the end of your hose and force water through there, you could fill until the water reaches the filter entrance and then do the towel trick, some jacuzzi's come with an attatchment that screws into the filter threads and threads onto your garden hose. Jacuzzi's (newer ones) have no gate valves. Just fill 'er up dude!! airlocks clear easily from your tub, they put that in the manual so people dont freak out and start calling the dealerships for a service call.
  6. scubes, thats a great price on a 470 depending on what your 'all in' means. The 470 has many upgrades from the 365, the pumps including the circ, filtration, RX jets.....you would be pleased for years to come with your investment. jacuzzi calgary is also a great dealership, i have heard good things about them.
  7. interesting how many dealers are mentioned above as being out of business now....spa dealers slit their own throats sometimes when it comes to selling tubs. Everyone gets so fixed on the price of the tub at the time of purchase that they forget the service end of things. Spa dealers barely, barely break even on warranty jobs compound that with next to no profit on a tub and you have a recipe for a failing business and end up with a tub you got a great bargain on but are now looking for someone to service your warranty, then when you do find someone you whine about being charged for a service call.....this industry is pretty messed up sometimes. Of course he is going to charge you, its to cover the part that the warranty will not cover, travel time, tools, troubleshooting....etc. the analogy with the Audi above, i bet when you bought your car they held their line on price much better than your now out of business spa dealer, and as a consequence they can service you better and are still around to do so because they actually made a profit on the sale of the car. Arctic is the competition to me but they do make a decent tub, they have been doing it for awhile now, not as long as us, but still decent. Find a dealer that has been in business at least 10 years with the same line.
  8. n1oty is spot on. i have had customers shut the main breaker off for 20 mins and it has cleared.Should be warrantable? if not, check the board for bulged capacitors, take it to a electronics shop and have them replaced prolly 1-200$, better than 4-600$ for a new board....
  9. I am looking for travel covers for hot tubs, something that slips over the top of the tubs so they can be transported cleanly. i have seen them from a show we were at, an arctic spa dealer had them.
  10. I was looking into the micro pure filter awhile back, i am interested in hearing about your experience with this. I was looking into it mainly because of the improved filtration, how closely did you 'look' at your water before you installed them. with me, i could/can still see some 'floaties', smaller particles that i am not if the filter is missing them or if its because of the tub design (bypass filtration). keep this thread posted.
  11. a dedicated 15amp 120v outlet with a gfci plug is all that is required, the 50amp 240 will allow you to run the pump on high AND the heater, we have had zero complaints from the people who have done the 120 version though.
  12. both great tubs, the j325 has the option of a 120v hook-up. Both made in the same factory, if its between those two then pick the dealer that has a full time tech and a parts inventory, some testimonials from customers or find some friends that deal with either of the dealers in your area. Having a good relationship with your dealer will go along way in the satisfaction department after purchase even more so since it will be your first tub. good luck
  13. pet rocks are gone?! damn i just lost mine too. Alot of those things you mention waterbear are still around, and being used or done regularly, they are just not new and not often discussed anymore because everyone has accepted them. And your right i did not like the answer i got from the thread i posted because i didnt get my question answered, only got an automated response like a drone...chlorine....bromine....chlorine....bromine...two words....chlorine....bromine.... just like this thread. The OP SPECIFICALLY asked about alternatives and even went as far to say she refuses to use chlorine or bromine for health concerns, YET, you still beat her over the head with the two words....chlorine...bromine....chlorine ....bromine, to your credit you at least mentioned N2/MPS and PHMB.
  14. i'm sorry waterbear but where does the OP ask about EPA registered sanitizers? she is looking for alternatives. They dont claim to be a sanitizer because 1) they legally cant in canada and 2) it isnt. You need to stop discrediting things based on what the Gov approves for you and for which you more than likely have no experience with. Gotta try it before you knock it. Its an ALTERNATIVE, alternatives are not popular because they buck the trend and are therefore open for all sorts of pundits to mock, discredit and make fun of. Its a shame you are playing right into the big chemical companies hands, propagating fear of alternatives instead of moving our industry forward with safe use of alternatives. Some people could not own a hot tub if all they could use is Gov approved sanitization systems, thats a shame, hot tubs are wonderful things and i think everyone should have one. i was expecting flack for suggesting this and i thought i could bite my tongue but in the spirit of helping someone look for alternatives i had to mention it because contrary to the popular mindset of this forum, it just plain works, i have seen it work for many, i currently use it. I do use chlorine regularly but have done long periods without any sanitizer, and tested for bacteria using a commercially available test kit, which was negative. Enzymes work, i searched both of the more popular forums and did not see much negative feedback. The feedback i saw was someone stepping up and mentioning that they loved and use enzymes and the rest of the board bashing them back down and basically shutting them up because what they wanted to talk about was not an approved sanitizer, not approved by Gov and not approved by members of the forum...its a shame, it truly is. Enzymes, not only for hot tubs but for health as well, are going to be the next wave of health fads, its only a matter of time. Prov31Mom23 you seem intelligent and able to think and make decisions for yourself, do your research into enyzmes.
  15. has anyone mentioned an enzyme system to you yet? we use one called Spa Marvel, there are many out there.
  16. also you said there were 2 breaker boxes? what does the second one show on the breaker?
  17. if your tub a new install then it should be set for 50 amps allowing you to run one jet while keeping the heater operational, it sounds to me like you still have the tub configured for 30 amp service. if it is a newer model you will need to access the settings from your topside control and double check if it is an older model you can double check your jumpers on your circuit board to make sure that those are set correctly for 50 amp service. alternatively you could 'trick' your tub into thinking it is getting 60amps by setting the jumpers for that service. the jumper configuration is in your owners manual. what year is it?
  18. Quote"We have a little test plug that mimics all the sensors to eliminate them as a source problem. " would love to get one of those or the instructions on how to make one? please.
  19. I had your exact same problem. I at first thought it was my KK and did everything possible to eliminate that part of the problem. I spoke to several pool people in my area and was given the following advice which worked for me last season. First get a flashlight and look into the basket with it running, can you actually see bubbles entering the basket? If so the problem is more than likely the union between the pump basket and the piping. They asked me if i had ever fired up my pump dry, of course i had, and they explained that doing that causes alot of force on that fitting, causing that union to 'shrink' ( i dont know if thats an accurate word to use). I could see air entering, so, and dont laugh, i used some plumbers epoxy ( i wouldnt reccomend that now) on all the connections i could see on the suction side of the basket. THe union the elbows, everywhere there was a connection. I also took out all my drain plugs on the basket, used 5 wraps of teflon tape and re-inserted them tightly. Took out my lids gasket, cleaned it really good and applied some sort of sealant, almost like vaseline but not vaseline, that i had around for some of the motorized toys o-rings for the pool. Last season I had no bubbles, Kreepy worked great and keeping the pool clean was again very easy. HTH
  20. 6 of one half dozen of the other....with the amount of time you use it i would keep it at 104 and not waste your valuable time waiting for your tub to be ready.
  21. sure you can, use www.thepoolcalculator.com to find out how much stabilizer (CYA) you need to add for your volume of water and also use it to determine how much lithium you need to bring your ppm of chlorine to the desired level. you would use the lithium just like the bleach and you would only have to use more cya when you top up your water level if you feel like it. you can shock with whatever you feel like shocking with, mps or lithium.
  22. did water back up into the ozonator? most of the time a check valve fails and makes it more difficult for the ozone to get 'out' there are usually two check valves, there are on Jacuzzi anyways. if water didnt back up into the generator i would try repalcing the tubing and check valves first. Ozone is really hard on things.
