  1. Radio Shack sells this type of thermometer, as does Frye's (I think I saw them there). Have you checked them out?
  2. It may simply be small bubbles. Cl generator makes small bubbles as does an ozonator. If you have added a cheap algaecide or an enzyme these may cause the bubbles to hang around for a longer time than normal. Do a test to see if it is bubbles.
  3. While some of this is true, it is a bit of an emotional rant that assumes all pools are the same throughout the country. There can be perfectly good reasons to use different forms of chlorine depending on differing needs. Grocery store bleach is typically 4% to 5.25% (approx) available chlorine. "Pool" chlorine is typically 10% to 12.5% available chlorine. From here you just run the numbers to see if it is beneficial to haul around twice the weight and volume if you are using liquid. There are perfectly legitimate and useful reasons to use other forms of chlorine, such as trichlor or cal hypo. ALL forms of chlorine have their advantages and disadvantages and it is a matter of finding which form is best at meeting your needs.
  4. There should be two cords leaving the power supply, a round one going to the cell and a flat phone-type cord going to the electronic flow sensor. The flow sensor fits into a tee with a 1.5" threaded port. Sometimes right next to the cell, other times located elsewhere between the filter and heater. Can you find the tee?
  5. Hopefully your electrician has some expertise in pool pumps. If something is causing the impeller to stick, this is not a warranty problem. So test it this way: FIRST turn off the electricity. Open the lid, stick your finger (or small tool) back into the impeller and try to turn it by hand. If it turns, it is not stuck. If it is stuck you need to open the pump and clear it. I have seen small seed pods get stuck between the impeller and diffuser. Not hard if you are handy with tools. If it is a motor problem NOT caused by improper installation then it is either the capacitor or windings (WFE does not have start windings or switch). In general, 80% of "warranty" calls are not manufacturer defects...
  6. Technically you are not stuck with Pentair. The IntelliTouch uses a 10k sensor so you can use anyones 10k sensor. This is simple if replacing the air sensor, but not as simple if replacing the water temp sensor. The water temp sensor fits into a hole in the pipe and they are not all the same size. Hey, remember to swap those sensors back that you switched for your test!
