  1. I have a sand stone pool. There are two waterfalls, one large one for decoration and another one off the spa. I have had two problems with the stone: 1. Lime build up on the stone 2. Sand in the pool when we run the fountain It has been hard ot find info on how to care for this, so I am posting my experience in cse it can help someone else. First, to get rid of the lime I first started with a 50% dilution of muriatic acid. Spray it on, it will not harm the stone. Let it sit for a few hours, then rinse of. You will need to work on the heavy build up wit ha wire bruch or razor blad after, but it comes off a lot easier after the acid wash. The acid will also take care of the thinner stuff without any additional manual labor. Then I went back and acid washed again followed by pressure washing. Afterwards, it was 95% free of any buildup. To retard the additional development of lime and to keep the stone from eroding sand into the pool, I used Deck-O-seal's deck-o-shield, and you can find the info here: http://www.deckoseal.com/783a.htm This stuff is AWESOME. It went on easy, great coverage, abnd you could see the water just bead up on the stone after. I ordered one gallon that was enough for all of my stone, which is alot. Highly recommend it. My only problem I still have is from the prior owners poor care. I do not think they EVER resealed it and there was some erosion of the mortar at the spas waterfall. I have some water penetrating somewhere into the stone and coming out elsewhere. I do not want to do a major job of removing and remortaring, as I am afraid the mortar will look different. I did the best job I could by filling in with 100% silicone behind, but it didnt work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  2. I think it is about the same age as the pool, about 3 years. I looked at the cell and it looks pretty clean, not a lot of build up on it. It is a 2 port cell, and from what I understand the newer ones are 3 port. No phone wire looking cable anywhere around to indicate where the sensor may have been, and nothing plugged into the board. If I replace the whole system, and reccs on which is the better to go with? I have not found any reviews on reliability.
  3. Moved into a new house with a 3 year old pool. It has Jandy from top to bottom including an Aquapure 1400. I coulnt figure out why the unit kept giving me error codes for poor flow and super high salt. Then I looked for the flow sensor and there is none! Nothing hooked up to the control board and no obvious plumbing for it. I figure the prior owners did not want to pony up $250 to get it as they were apparently having financial troubles, but I do not even see where it would have been plumbed. As I started doing research it sounds like most people end up spending $600 every year or two to replace the cell, a board, a sensor, or have to replace the whole system. Should I bother putting in a sensor or just stick with bleach? Id appreciate any feedback.
  4. Thanks All. Good suggestions. PVC is pretty cheap amd easy to do. Ill do that and see about a 'self contained' cleaner.
  5. Could use some recommendations. I have a pool that has a seating area with an in pool 2 foot diameter round table. The cleaner keeps getting its hose stuch around the table. I was thinking there has to be a cleaner that can manage around the table, but the pool stores says they will all get stuck. Anyone have recommendations????
