  1. I'm afraid it wouldn't be stable enough in the pool with my 5yo to play around it. Do you have a problem with your water leaking/splashing out at the union? I have already blocked 1 return to try to increase the pressure still the water is running down the PVC,hits the union then is splashing down and out. Any ideas?
  2. I followed the link [yours?] and ordered the PVC misting type for an inground pool.
  3. Wanted to update and let you know that we installed the chiller Friday evening. As usual we ran our pump at night [our starting water temp on Friday was 93] Saturday morning the water temp was down to 89! This thing really works. It was cheap enough and simple to install. I would think that someone with some time could possibly tweak it and make it a bit more efficient though - but we're quite happy with it. If you haven't already done so, get one, as my main regret is that we have wasted most of our summer dreading the 92+ water temp that we have been dealing with...
  4. What places? It's all hype and nonsense. Just because an ozonator calls itself "Ultra-Pure" or some other such language does not mean anything. Salt can do everything. For a regular residential pool, ozone provides no benefit. It's not dangerous; it's just not going to work. I have taken care of pools with ozonators. I am sure that they are not only worthless, but also detrimental unless it is done properly. I have removed several ozonators from residential pools, and the pools are doing much better. There is a dramatic improvement when the ozonator is removed. Ozone can be used effectively; but it has to be done properly. Pumping chlorine and ozone into the same pipe is a bad idea. They destroy each other. The ozone and the salt cell agitate the water; this causes carbon dioxide to come out of solution and raises the Saturation Index very high. The salt cell creates hydroxides as a byproduct of chlorine generation. The milkyness may be calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate precipitating out of solution. Some drinking water is made using ozone as part of the process. The result is very good and clean water. The process is carefully designed and methodically followed based on solid science. The process includes carbon filtration, micro-filtration, ozonation and other critical steps. What specific benefits are you expecting from your ozonator? What, specifically, do you want it to do for you? If you can post a full set of chemical readings, I will be better able to help you. Free chlorine 1.6 -Total Chlorine 1.8 Combined chlorine .2 pH 8.1 Acid or base demand ? Total Alkalinity 114 Calcium hardness 246 Total hardness ? Cyanuric acid 76 Salt (Titration for chloride, not TDS) 3830 Total dissolved solids 500 Temperature 92 Iron 0.0 ppm (i'm not sure they actually tested for this) I hope this helps. To answer your question regarding what my expectations were for the ozone - I wanted it to complement the SW system in working as an agent to destroy bacteria. I also installed the system to extend the life of the cell, as we have replaced our cell twice now and we have only had our pool for 6 years. The SWG is currently experiencing problems (maybe you can search previous posts where I began first trying to get help with the SWG/cell/board). I bought the ozonator because I understood they could be used together it seems that I may very well regret that decision. The service tech for the SWG did not show last Thursday I have waited 6 weeks for this appointment and he was a no-show so the SWG issue is not resolved and now I'm having this discussion regarding the ozone:( So really any help that you or anyone can offer really, really would be appreciated! I'm at my wits end here.
  5. Are there any homeowners that have experienced this?
  6. We have been running our pool at night, waterfall full thrust - - trying to get/keep our water temp lowered, went out this morning it was 91 by the time I got home this evening to get in it was up to 93. Ridiculous, nothing soothing about getting into that! I followed the link below and I've just completed an order for the pool mister. We will give an update as soon as we get it installed and try it out! Hopefully, it will be some cool news. All puns intended:) It would be great if anyone familiar with ozone could respond to our trouble [now concern] regarding our new ozone (combo salt) system. Anyone out there familiar with ozone and salt combinations???? Thanks Gfam
  7. Wow quantumchromodynamic, that’s pretty strong advice, is this combination something that is dangerous? I have turned off the ozone system. I have read in several places that salt and ozone are an excellent combination for pools and haven't seen anything that would indicate that I need any type of additional system! Is what we installed really that bad? I would be grateful for additional advice on the system but the suggestions are going to need to be in simpler terms as I am not following some of the things that you are suggesting and am not sure why this would be necessary. But I'm open to your thoughts. As to my original post (Water turning white with ozonator) do you have an idea of why the water is white? Fellow forum readers some weighing in on this topic would be appreciated, greatly appreciated.
  8. We have a salt water generator to which we have recently added the UltraPure ozone generator...when the systems are both on the water that is being returned is WHITE! It looks like white paint is being pumped into the pool through the return jets. After about 45 minutes (by this time the entire pool is white) it stops. Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Any idea what is causing this? Is this going to happen every day?
  9. This is a REPOST. Hope this helps you help me:) I am having problems with my aquarite system. I have tired to TS all items that I could find listed. CS has been of no real value. Problem started approx 6mos ago with lo salt light on steady [added salt without checking at store]. Light still on. Cleaned with acid wash, reset, still on. Had salt checked at store 4200 [ouch]. Tech support said water was prob too cold and that was result of initial light. So that was approx 3 months ago, I drained some water and added fresh and have been using the good old fashioned lug and dump chlorine method since. Water is balanced (pH, alk, calc, stabilizer and salt is back to 3300). The units reads 2100 86 31.3 0.00 98P -0 AL-0 r1.33 when I switch to generate, after approx 10 seconds CLICK and unit reads 2200 86 25.1 4.63 98P -2900 AL-0 r1.33 then after approx 60 seconds CLICK and the Low Salt and Inspect Cell burn steady. Then read 0 86 31.3 0.00 98P -0 AL-0 r1.33. The salt is 3300 verified at two different pool stores. How do I determine if I need to replace the cell, the board, or both. I don't know anyone else that I would be able to borrow a cell from, and our pool store only has a dummy display for the generator display - no help. If the cell is bad it will be the 3rd cell in 4 years. The board was replaced within 2 weeks of new install and then 'worked on' about 2 years ago (before the second cell was changed). Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Will a new board support a newer cell (the 9 or 5)? Details on the defunct system - Chlorine Generator is a SmartPure Sanitizer II with an AquaRite turbo cell (TCell15). The system was installed in 2003. We have had 2 other cells, the main board was replaced 2 weeks after install and repaired once after that. Considering that something needs to be replaced with this thing [either the board or the cell] and that the TCell 15 will be/is the most expensive cell to replace, we are considering purchasing a new [complete] system. The T15cell alone runs about 500, seems we can get a basic CG for $600-700 including the cell. Few questions - how difficult might this be to replace the old system with new? Seems another Aquarite might just switch out. What about some of the other manufacturers? How similar are these systems? The Blue Essence looks strikingly similar to Aqua Rite system and was wondering if maybe it was manufactured by them just under a different name? Does anyone have experience with the Blue Essence system, or Compu Pool? What about input from someone that has replaced their board(s) what amount are we looking at to do just that? Of course ideas of the best place to get the parts or system at the best price would also be appreciated. Many thanks
  10. We've been running our pool at night with the waterfall flowing at max capacity. Has dropped the water temp from 93 to 90 in 3 days. If I can't keep the temp down or get it below 90 I'm going to try the system.
  11. If I replace the main board will I be able to use the newer cells (9 or 5) instead of the 15?
  12. Still haven't had any response...Does anyone have any advice on this?
  13. I started my post on June 12 and received some great advice from Pool Clown [thanks again] I believe that we may be looking at replacing the board(s). However, I would like feedback on our next train of thought--> Should we replace the board or boards that only support the T15 cell or replace the entire SWG system so that we would be looking at significantly reduced costs for replacement cells in the future? Here are the specifics. We have recently installed an UltraPure Ozonator, our Chlorine Generator is a SmartPure Sanitizer II with an AquaRite turbo cell (TCell15). The system was installed in 2003. We have had 2 other cells, the main board was replaced 2 weeks after install and repaired once after that. Considering that the board(s) need to be replaced and that the TCell 15 will be the most expensive cell to replace, we are considering purchasing a new [complete] system. 14. Which do you have? Where did you get it? Have you had a chance to run it for a more prolonged period of time I am wondering about the energy efficiency of something like this?
