  1. I just ripped up my wood deck last November and put down Azek decking, its all plastic and will never mildew like composite or wood. Very nice product, more expensive but will last longer then you will live, lol.
  2. To me, as far as spas go, you always get what you pay for. Be very careful when you buy outside of the big names. Never, ever buy online, I researched for 1 year before I finally bought a Hotsprings spa.
  3. I looked at alot of lower priced spas. I always kept coming back to the Hotsprings Jetsetter. I wanted a spa that would last 10 plus years and Hotsprings seems to always fit the bill as quality and cheap to run. I have been very satisfied with the spa and paid 5900.00 with tax, lifter, step, etc. The best 5900 hundred I have ever spent. My body hurts form being a meat cutter for 34 years and in the cold, lifting, etc. This spa makes me feel young again, very refreshing. Spend the extra money, you do get what you pay for, I cant tell a difference in my electric bill ( wired at 220) at all. Im in Virginia and its been very snowy this year and I soak everyday, sometimes twice a day. The moto massage feels like fingers up and down your back, almost heaven. Spa is very quiet also, most are loud as hell. Hope this helps, Rick
  4. 6-7 times a week, sometimes 2 times a day if im real sore. Im new to tubing, nov 2009. Hot Springs Jetsetter. This is probably the best item I have bought in last 10 years, makes me feel young again.
  5. I have a cover lifter and I just close the last two locks, sometimes just one. Makes for a fast entrance and exit. Rick
  6. Hello, Here is the deal, im tired of draining the water to half level from using dichlor and the CYA going to 100 in a month or so. Im switching to dichlor to bleach method. Here are my numbers. FC 2.5 PH 7.7 TA 80 CH 150 CYA 60 BORATES 50 TEMP 103 Hotsprings Jetsetter spa 250 gal, ozone, nature 2 I know the cya is high, not 20-30, but want to live with this till spring, when refill is due, spa new and started mid November. Half refill twice. Clean filters every 3 weeks ( TRI-X) I just took the FC TO 10 with 6% reg Clorox, to check the chlorine demand, tomorrow will track demand. My question is do I shock with Clorox once a week like I did with Spa Guard, spa shock-oxidizer and if so, do I shock to 10 with Clorox or what. Is it ok to still shock with Spa Guard or will it mess up my numbers? Ive read alot in here and im not sure as what to to do on shocking or if its needed anymore now that I started to use bleach. I do use the pool calculator and numbers look good. Any info would be great, Thanks, Rick
  7. I also have a jetsetter, very happy with the spa, but it really is only comfortable for 2 people and that's perfect for me and my wife. I got mine (new 2009) for 5500.00 plus tax (5900.00). I got the steps, cover lifter, starter kit and delivery set up for free. Very good deal and uses very little power, or chemical. I had it hooked up to 220 power, it stays nice and hot when open and 10 degrees out. The jets are all I need , the hot water, moto massage helps me the most on therapy.
  8. HO HO HO, Marry Christmas... I was in my spa last night at 2:30 am, man my back was killin me from all the lifting at work, im a meat mgr and turkeys, hams did me in. Thanks god for the hot tub, it really helps. God bless to all and MERRY CHRISTMAS Rick and family
  9. Take your time. It took me 7 months of research and testing, you will be glad you did this. Read ,read and read some more and learn all you can before even going to look at spas. You will still be uneasy about some things, but you will come off as interested as a true spa buyer and not a spur of the moment person. Also I never said anything about any other competitors product when looking and dealing with sales people, people tend to get all uptight and not stay focused on the spa at hand. The info on this sight will help you the most in learning and buying the spa. I bet I have read posts at least 200 hrs, lol. With all this said I bought the Hotsprings Jetsetter and am total satisfied with the whole experience from beginning to end. Water issues all can be fixed with info here on this sight, you just have to do the time needed to learn and then its easy as riding a bike. Can it be frustrating, yes if you let it, but its up to you to do the home work and make the passing grade. By the way, this has probably been one of my best purchases in my life outside of a house, because of a quality spa and the therapy it has been on my aching body. I have felt like a 20 year old from using the spa. Once again read, read and take your time and it will be a great experience. Also im glad I dident get a low end, priced spa. The quality and efficiency of the Hotsprings spa is what I was after. Good luck Rick
  10. 31 here in Richmond, VA 4:52 PM
  11. Hello, I just had a new Jetsetter spa installed last month (220). I used a electrician the spa dealer uses and it all went smooth and fast. They do it alot and it has to be done right or spa could messed up big time. The deal I GOT WAS $425.00, they ran 6 ga wire to box 70 ft, then to spa, wired it all and also a 110 outlet on a opposite wall. Thats all parts needed for this job, seemed very reasonable. I would have it done right. Rick
  12. It looks good to me so far, I will post daily for a week and see. Thanks you so much for helping me with all your posts in here. Rick
  13. Todays numbers, 12/09/10 FC 3 PH 7.7 TA 70 CH 170 CYA 55 BORATE 40 Just a guess, test strips not here yet
  14. Hello, My PH was jumping all over the place. Ive done the pool calculator deal and here is what numbers I have after 2 days of checking with using Muriatic acid and baking soda the first day. Hotsprings Jetseter 250 gallons temp 103 1. FC =3 2. pH = 7.8 3. TA= 70 4. CH= 175 5. CYA= 55 6. Borate= 40 ? have to get a tester, dident use the full amount yet . 40 is a guess, used 8oz. 7. CSI .01 -0.01 I did use the boric acid after the ph stayed at 7.8 and TA at 70 for 24 hours. Does this look ok now. Thanks, Rick
  15. Care to sell me your Taylor test kit? Man I would be lost with out that kit, I just want a good, fast test strip to use when time is short.
  16. Im getting water foam build up ( 3in on sides), spa is 3 weeks old. The kids (well 20 + years old) have got in twice and did not shower. I haven't cleaned the tri x filters yet, was going to do next week, it will be a month then. Is the de-foaming stuff really ok to use, don't want the water to get out of balance. If so what kind is best to use and any deals to be found would be great. Thanks, Rick
  17. What brand test strips do you use. I have the Aquachek brand that came with the Hotspring spa. I use the Taylor kit too, but use strips for the daily reading. Whats the best strip to use and any info on the best deals out there would be great. The strips I use tell me chlorine, ph, total alkalinty. Thanks, Rick
  18. I just got 4 boxes =32 pads for $30.00 at drugstore.com. It was free shipping also, the best price I could find, at less than a dollar each, will give them a try. Thanks on the tip, Rick
  19. I too agree with everything Sedro said, my jetsetter is 2 weeks old and I get in it everyday, sometimes twice.. My body has hurt for years from the cold of cutting meat for 34 years and now I feel like im 25 again. As far as keeping the chemicals right, could not be any easier or cheaper, im am very satisfied. The room in the spa is just fine for me and my wife with alot less cost. I looked at the Vanguard also, very nice spa, it was just to big for the area on my deck, and 3400.00 more to buy, plus tax. Its all what you want, the Jetsetter fits the bill for us. Rick
  20. Anybody? Any fidl techs or Hotspring spa owners info would be great. Thanks, Rick
  21. I have a 2 week old Jetsetter and the first week the green/blue lights were always on (outside lights). As of 1 week ago the green comes on and off alot, like 15 seconds in between, never blinking, sometimes its off for 20 minutes. Is this normal? Dealer said its the heater cutting on and off with temp flux. It dident do this the first week and the temp is set at 102 and its always 102/103 when opening the spa. Out side temp are around 60 daytime and 40 night. Just dosent seem right to me. Any info would be great. Thanks, Rick
  22. Well today the electrician and Hotsprings people set me up. They were done at 1 pm and off to work I went. Got off work at 10pm and man I was stiff and sore from all the deck building here at home. Got in the spa at 10:45 and out in 20 min, have to be back at work at 6am. I have to say , I feel like im 25 again, not 53. All the stiffness in my back and all the pain in my shoulders, elbows, hands, feet are GONE!!!!!! I haven't felt like this in years. Can I get a big amen,, o-ya Couldn't get the wife out of bed, she gets up at 4:30 am, but im headin back there now, if you know what I mean. Can I get another big amen, o-ya O-ya, the Luxury pool and spa people here in Richmond, VA, were super threw out the whole deal and im very positive they will always be that way, just seem like good folks. Thanks again, to all here, the super info and great ideas. I would had probably bought some junk, cheep spa if not for all the good reads here. Pics to come soon, still have to finish deck. Rick
  23. Sorry no pics, we were just to busy to take any and now its covered up. The space under it is three feet and down 30 feet between the two houses., so not really easy to take a pic of. We still have half the deck to do but the section where the tub is is all but done. Deck is a L shape 10 by 40 and 12 by 38. Here is what we did for the tub. 10 by 40 section, spa section between the two houses. Brick side of house is 4 by 4 posts every 5 feet and vinyl side of addition is bolted to house with 2 by 10. The joists are 2 by 8 , 16 on center. Where the spa is, we double banded the 2 by 8 on 5 joists. We added 4, 6 by 6 posts in a straight line, under the joists, notched, in the middle of the spa area. That deck should hold alot more weight than the Jetsetter will have, just some added insurance.
  24. Well the deck flooring was ripped out last sat, four 6/6 posts and five joists double banded have been installed. My brother and I have been busy as all get out installing the Azek plastic decking boards. Man this stuff is nice to work with, cuts like wood, but has no real maintenance. Now all the screwing is another story (pain in da frickin butt), but will be done tomorrow and the new Hotsprings Jetsetter and electric will be installed Thursday morning. It will be just in time, I hurt all over, lol. Its been along time to this point and all has gone well, hope it stays that way. Will post some pics on install. Thanks again to everyone here on all the great info, really helped with all the decisions that had to be done. Rick
