  1. good news, plastic cover removed from back of pump, impellor given helping hand upon selection of pump, all works as advertised. no new pump....happy days
  2. confirmed not capacitor, oh well hands in pockets for new pump........
  3. Hi Just a quickie, but someone has mentioned that there is a condenser or capacitor on top of the pump that could cause my problem, anyone had any dealings with something like that? and if so how do i access it and change it? many thanks
  4. Thanks for the replies, not the answer I'd hoped lol, it does sound like the pump wants to turn but then nothing, is there an easy fix for it (apart from replacing it) is there something I can do myself (limited knowledge ) Thanks for the offer Brian VT but unfortunately I'm not near you, I live in Cyprus in the Mediterranean.
  5. Hi wonder if anyone can help me, I have a hotsprings jetsetter and I cannot get the pump that operates the jets to work. A bit of history if it helps, The tub was working fine and I moved house taking the tub with me, however there was nowhere for the tub so I stayed in the bdrive unused for 18 months, I have now moved again connected it all up and the jets don't work, the circulation pump works as there is the trail of small bubbles from the floor. I have tried to see if there is any air in the lines but still the pump doesn't work. I tried the bleed screw on the pump and the pipe unions on top and end of the pump. When I select the jets there is a click and a low hum as if the pump wants to go but nothing. I have put a hose down the filter pipe, and I forced water through the jets at the end where the pump is (some air bubbles did come back out the other jet when I did this if that means anything) Any help much appreciated. Thanks
  6. We always use the lights, one of my 'must Haves' when I purchased, I always try and ensure our soaks coincide with darkness. Also the worse the weather the better the soak for me, although crystal clear skies in the winter are good. Maybe it's just tubbing I love.....
  7. I would also like to add that James has been extremely helpful in sorting out my issue in a different post on this site, he's done alot of work behind the scenes for me, thanks James.
  8. Pros: I have wet tunes on my frontier, wouldn't be without it, we use it everytime we're in the tub, also use it when having bbq's, just open the lid and let the music blast, I did debate about aqua tremor, wet tested with it but it pushed me over budget so stuck with wet tunes.... great addition to a tub. Cons: None that I can see unless you think that staying in the tub that bit longer because you haven't finshed your well earned drink and there's some great tunes pumping out.....
  9. Tom, sorry about your news, although I live in the UK I have always felt that you were close by when I needed advice, no problem was too small for you to take interest, seeing your posts on this forum for Arctic was a contributing fact for me buying Arctic, it gave me assurance (not that it has been required) that if my dealer wouldn't act you would. sorry to see you go.
  10. Hi Guys, a quick update, ttrublue you was absolutely correct my Onzen was not working as soon as I used the tub chlorine levels dropped to zero again. Dealer called and he changed the plates 'again' I'm now on my 3rd set (tub a year old last week). I had fallen out of favour with my tub recently because of the problem which I thought had been fixed with the last plate change, now it's working properly it's like having a new tub again, great. I wonder how long I can expect this set to work? Tom I guess this is a known problem, when will 'Onzen - the next generation' be rolled out? and will it be standard practice to retro fit it to those who already have the first generation ones? edit: Just heard the news about Tom has Arctic got another 'ammbassador' on this forum who'll take on issues? Tom will be a hard act to follow what are Arctic thinking?
  11. Many thanks for the replies, I have since kick started the chlorine with 2 tablets and that seems to have done it, water cleared up nicely and after a dip in chlorine after a few days when the tablets had done their bit the tub seems to have kicked in again...... still no mist though (this is the 2nd onzen generator I'm on tub 1 yr in Oct) anyway I'll see what happens over the coming weeks. Oh and as for the salt problem....... I was reading the test strips wrong so thought I had none when I really had loads (told you I was new to this..... what a buffoon eh?) so I can honestly say we are doing fine for salt now ) Thanks again guys
  12. Is there a reason why my salt level keeps dropping? I have an Arctic Frontier with Onzen, Recently my water went cloudy after heavy usage, when I checked my levels everything was good except chlorine, when I monitored the tub I noticed that there was no 'Mist' being produced from the Onzen so upon checking the salt levels I found they were very low (I had already topped up the salt some few weeks previously). Is there a reason for this? I had read somewhere that salt remained in the water all the time unless removed with the water, and evaporation would only increase salt levels. Have I missed something? does the Onzen turn the salt into chlorine so uses it or is there another reason? The water was due a change anyway which I have now done but I am confused as to whether this is normal. I'm still pretty new to this.
  13. Hi, I'm pretty new to this as well but I have an Arctic Spa Frontier and when I had probs with the Onzen keeping up with chlorine levels after a high usage my dealer recommended that I pop in a couple of chlorine tablets (Into the filter inlet), which I did and it seemed to do the trick. Hopefully that helps.
  14. I am still a newbie here but I have seen in many of the replies above that salt levels should ideally be 2000+, however I have a Arctic frontier (8 months old and still learning). Original onzen system electrodes replaced as not working due to some sort of substance gunking them up (looked like insulation foam to me) any way the other day the chlorine level was low and there was a slimy feel to the inside of the tub and a pong from the water. I have turned the onzen up to max now and it seemed to be getting better very slowly, however heavy use over the week end has turned the water cloudy and smelly is there anyway to recover it? One of my main concerns is the salt levels, the piece of equipment given to me in my starter pack for measuring salt levels shoots up to 1000 straight away and that is the limit, i cannot monitor past this level with it. Is the item any use to me except to monitor low levels? And will (with the guidence of my dealer) moving the Onzen plug to the continually on socket sort out the chlorine levels? PH and alk are ok. am I doing something wrong, i use 2.5 kg of salt on new tub of water. How do you know if complete water change is required is this the sign?(water been in 2 1/2 months) any help gratefully received. I have a UK system which I believe doesn't have the advanced sub menus that the US version has.

  16. Thanx Glid, did tightening it stop the buzzing?
  17. Hi Roger, not really a stereo system just built in speakers that I connect my ipod to, got it chucked in with the deal I got, not an option I added on.
  18. Hi, Just had my Arctic Frontier deleivered (yesterday) got it all to temperature and jumped in it last night, absolutely fantastic. Only problem is now that it's reached temp and all is quiet I noticed there is a humming noise (buzzing) coming from the speakers (wet tunes installed). I have contacted the dealer who has been great throughout the whole deal and he is coming over next wednesday (he's away at the moment and thats the day he is back). I just thought I would just ask the question on here incase there is a quick and simple fix, maybe someone else had the same prob and it was easily sorted. It sounds like a bad earth I think, I am more than happy to wait for the dealer to come on over but just didn't want to waste his time if it's a 30 second job to fix. cheerz.
  19. Just to give you an update, Arctic Spa frontier gets delivered next wednesday.....at long last!!! I know it may not seem that long (I suspect that none of you gave it a seconds thought whilst you're sat in your tubs ) but trust me it seems like an eternity, I've probably dreamed of being in it everyday since ordering. The weather here is turning now for winter, brilliant, the sky's much clearer and darker so the night sky is so much more visible. For you experienced guys out there, It gets installed about 9 am will it have reached temp by the evening on the same day? Hope so or I might be cold when I get in.......
  20. thanx guys for all the info, (didn't mean to start an environmental debate when I started this topic) well all things weighed up and many wet tests later we have now ordered an artcic spa frontier, with onzen, wet tunes, cover, lifter, steps and a few other freebies thrown in. so now looking forward to delivery...approx 8 weeks. It was a close call between that and hot springs Aria but the onzen system and dealer attitude that swung it. I explained this to the hot spring guy and then he proceeded to send me an email about the downfalls of the salt system, not good for frequent use, struggles with large amount of people in the tub etc etc, surely if several major brands of hot tub are developing a salt system then that is progression, I guess when hot springs develop theirs he'll tell me how good it is. Just one question to any of you out there who has a salt system, is the water salty? I understand the concept of it and that is producing chlorine etc, but does it still maintain a salty solution or does it all turn to chlorine?
  21. many thanx stevie for the quick reply, I have nothing but praise for this forum with the unbiased and honest findings of its members. you are correct in what you say that it is much different than buying a car and in my case it would be cheaper to buy a car because i wouldn't spend as much on a car as i am intending to spend on a hot tub.... strange to some people but a car is a means of getting me from A to B and i'm not too fussed how that happens as long as it does, however a hot tub is something that i am willing to invest in for relaxation, hydro massage and sheer enjoyment, so i am trying to get it right first time, which is why i am trying to ask the right questions to the members of the forum (hot tub owners) and not the dealers as 'theirs is always best'. As most of you guys are either state side or in canada you probably wont realise that as i am in england i will expect to pay the same as you guys (whether candian or american) in pounds sterling as you pay in dollars, considerably alot more given the exchange rate. Thats why i value 'all' views and findings. Thanx again all.
  22. hi all me again, still narrowing down final selections, I think it's Arctic V Hot Springs at the moment, still got a couple more wet tests so a late runner may appear.....never say never but it would have to be exceptional. anyway getting back to my question, The Arctic Spa has 1 filter and the Hot Spring has anything between 3 - 5, does this mean Hot Springs has better filtration, has it too much or do they use several to get the same filtration as Arctic? or is Arctic's not as good as Hot Springs? Also would any of you out there say Hot Springs had the more powerful Jets over Arctic or Vica-Versa? Many Thanx for previous help offered in this forum, it's been so helpful to me, I hope in the very near future to own a hot tub so I'll be too busy to ask anymore newbie questions.
  23. well I said I would report back after wet test of Arctic spa so here I am, tried the Kodiak, was abit more complicated to operate than the Hot Spring Envoy as there are several screens to contend with, but I guess that would become second nature after a while, the arctic was more comfortable & deeper & I liked the air option, although I found the Hot Spring had more powerful jets which was ok for a while but felt like I'd done 10 rounds with Tyson at the end,but was invigorating,I also like the moto massage. I like the insulation of the Arctic & the shell strength, so still undecided at the moment, both have good points and both are a quality product. Hard to say which way I'll go at the moment, still another to wet test then it's fors and against time and may the best tub get my money.
  24. Many thanx for the info Tom, I will bear it all in mind when finalizing my selection, I am wet testing an Arctic Spa Kodiak tonight. Does everyone think that it is crucial to wet test the exact model that you are considering or a model from the company and dry test the exact one? I guess in an ideal world the exact one would make sense but alot of showrooms here in the UK only have one for wet test which makes it abit difficult, is it worth insisting they change their whole showroom around for a wet test?
  25. Thanx water boy, good to see that although you sell arctic spas you still remain neutral, especially to a newbie like me, i admire your honesty, the Hot spring guy told me a few other things to look out for on arctic spas but i disproved them straight away, even with the limited knowledge i have so far, so not too happy with his tactics at the moment, but i'll let the products do the talking during wet tests, and the fact my local arctic dealer and yourself are more than happy for that to happen speaks for itself, i'll be sure to let you know the outcome.
