It has been a while since I have posted. Even though Pacific spas is no longer in business I just wanted to let everyone know that we still love our tub and it is still running great after 21 months. After the Vancouver Canucks win tonight I enjoyed a nice cigar and a great Ardbeg single malt scotch during my great spa massage tonight. The original spa seller assured us that the pumps and heater warranties will still be honored by the pump or heater manufacturers if they fail. If anything fails we should only have to pay for the installation as he will make a claim against the manufacturers for the pump or heater as they are still under warranty. Luongo had a shut out tonight and is ready to make Canada proud and take on the world when the Olympics begin in Vancouver. Enjoy your hot tubs as we are still enjoying ours.

We have now had our Pacific Calypso tub for 5 months now and are still loving it. We are in it every day and the sports jet package is still working like a charm after hiking biking or soccer. The bromine generator and ozone is still keeping the water cystal clear after 5 months and all We have to add is Ph decreaser now and again as the Ph tends to rise. This could be due to aeration? One thing we have learned is to turn off the jets you are not using if you want to have an ultimate massage in the seat you are sitting in. With the two speed pumps this is not neccessary but sometimes you want to feel as if someone is walking on your back. Let me know how you like your spa and whether you have learned any tricks. We have also found that it is almost too energy efficient. On a hot day the temp will not go down. I think the circ pump in the equipment compartment keep the spa at the same temp. We have use broom sticks to raise the spa cover on both sides and open up tyhe pump compartment to allow total ventilation and this brings the temp down for a cooler night soak. I look forward to hearing your comments good or bad. We have an excellent dealer and I still have to get around to sending him my thank you and let him knoew how much we love our tub and the service he has provided.

This site still not right but it is much better than it was a month ago. At least I am improving my typing skills. Gist of the previous email was. Coleman tubs are only 35" deep. I am 6 feet tall and they were to shallow. Even though this is for your rental property I would at least dry fit the tub before purchasing or go for the free wet test. Some deeper economical tubs in no particular order are Jacuzzi 200 series (37" deep), Pacific Saturna (40" deep) and Caldera c series (38" deep). Call all of your local suppliers and see if they can offer something within your budget. You can save the final negotiation till you are down to your final 2 tubs. Your dealer will be very important so see which one you are most comfortable with and do a BBB check. If there is a problem you want good dealer service so you do not have to constantly go to your rental property. Good luck

The coleman spas are only 35" deep. I am 6 feet tall and we dry tested them and they were too shallow. Here are a few deeper economical spas. Jacuzzi 200 series(37" deep) Pacific Saturna(40" deep) Caldera c-series(38" deep). I would check to see what other spas are in your area. Call the dealer tell them your max. budget and see if they can help you. You can negotiate after you have narrowed your selection. Even though this is a for a rental I would at least dry test to see how it woulfd fit a range of peoples heights. Good luck

What is the maximum price you are willing to spend? I would also check out Jacuzzi, Sundance, Hotsprings, Caldera, Arctic and Pacific spas to name a few. You will also want some sort of chemical dispenser such as spa frog etc. I would stay away from the floating puck dispenser in a rental situation. We have a salt water genesis system that is fairly maintainence free but I believe that is only available with Arctic and Pacific. All of the tubs listed above have good filtration. You will probably want a 24 hour circ pump and ozone to compliment your sanitizer system. I would also get a tub that is at least 38" deep so it will fit a variety of people.

If you are going to the Langley store call first as Brian may have sold all his spas in the last home show. He may be able to get you a deal on a 07 from the factory if it is available. You may be able to get a better price than $10,000 as I believe you just wanted the cedar skirt. I believe the prices quoted were list price. We wet tested so many spas that the numbers all blurred together. Good Luck. You can also go direct to the factory store too.

The advantage of the genesis system is you can set the dial where you want. If you have a high bather load just crank the dial up a bit. With the Ozone I do not think you will have a problem achieving the required bromine concentration. We have been averaging with friends about 10 bather hours per week and the dial is at 5. The dial goes to 10 but if you pay extra you can get a dial that goes to 11.

Wet test them. We wet tested a dynasty and found it to be very shallow. Wet test before you buy as this forum repeats over and over. Good luck

There are weighted pillows out there that in my opinion are more comfortable than any of the spa pillows as you can sit up straighter and rest your head against the pillow. Once our pillows degrade we will probably replace with the weighted pillow. Do not abandon your spa choice due to the pillows. Ask almost any dealer and they will remove the pillow and replace it with weighted pillows that they usually have on hand. no dealer will let you out of the store if your only issue is the pillow. I would have to look back at my other posts but I believe the pricing was as follows Base price $7400 Select package $799 massage seat upgrade, stainless and cedarlite skirt Power $1499 Circ pump $399 We got the genesis system so this came with the price for that system this is about $10,000 so the your price is not that far off but the above it is a list price. The select package which includes the massage therapy jets stainless steel and cedarlite skirt is part of the $799. If you have the cover lifter staits etc your price is not that far off. If you do not have the whole select package have the dealer throw that in and offer a maximum of $10,000 Are there other spas to wet test in the area. $10,000 will buy you a range of excellent quality tubs and offer you some more negotiation room with the Pacific dealership. It has been eight weeks and we are still loving out tub. Water is still crystal clear and the jets are still pounding. I am tired today as last nights soccer game was a hard slog and a half hour soak with the sports package on melt and a beverage was required to ease the aching muscles. We have the genesis salt water system in our spa and so far we are loving it. Crystal claer water easy to maintain and no smell while in the tub or on our suits. It is tough to get answers from long term users. We bought our spa as the wet test floor model and the water had been in it for 10 months. We have had the spa for 7 weeks. We also find the the PH can tend to rise slowly but that could also be from sweat, or bubbling of the water from the air injection a swe have been informed. We add 14g Ph down every 2 to 3 days so no big deal. Without any of the solids associated with spa frog, pucks etc the TDS is low and this I believe eliminates any cloudy water, foaming etc. Right now we love ours but time will tell. The system is warrantied for 5 years. I am hoping we can get a year between tub refills. Your dealer should be understand the system but if not the manual is very easy to follow.

The other similarity between beachcomber and pacific is you can swap jets of the same diameter back and forth. This is a good feature if you have a deep muscle ache and you want to switch the pulsating jet for the deep muscle blaster jet. The jacuzzi and pacific tubs both had great 2 speed pumps that were very quiet. The jacuzzi definately offered one of the better massages but did not have the sport jet package that the Pacific did. If the jacuzzi fit we would probably have bought it. As we have both said before wet test. you have picked 2 good spas and make your decision after the wet test.

We wet tested both brands of spas and both had their own positives but they just did not fit. We found the Jacuzzi brand to be more economical for the features that you received. We would have bought either spa but they did not fit right. Both spas our very well built good quality spas that have great jets. the site was too busy and lost my first post so I will be brief this time. you will as a minimum need to add post and beams near your house and possibly a central beam and posts. Here is a website for post beam and joist design. I am surprised that the Coast spa is that expensive. The Coast was at least $2000 to $3000 cheaper than the Arctic when we wet tested. We wet tested both Arctic and Coast and liked Arctic better. The coast jets diverter valves ect did not seem to be as well built and I think I broke a diverter valve during the Coast wet test when I turned it. With the prices being the same I would definately go with the Arctic. See if the Arctic dealer can help you with the price or a store credit to sway your opinion. Someone else advised that you could get a free northern lights upgrade by going to the Arctic site and printing out a coupon

Sorry, should have been more clear. Mine is still run in conduit, which is what makes it meet code. I was told by my electrician that I could not run the conduit just under the siding as it was still considered to be exposed and could be damaged. He is a friend and I just think he wanted me to dig 70 feet of 18" deep trench

The electrician is coming tomorrow. Is there anything important i should ask him as well? If you are going to run the conduit see what he wants you to do near the Main panel. He may want you to cap off just above grade and he will finish the conduit to the box. If it is being inspected he may not want the trench buried. The contractor can usualy give you a better deal on the conduit than the price from your local building store. He may even give you a free bottle of cement. If he is a good electrical contractor he will explain everything that is necessary for the run from panel to tub. if you have any other questions after you have talked to your electrician post them as there is a lot of help here and the forum seems to be running at normal speed again. Be careful regarding putting outdoor wiring just under the siding. To meet code in Canada and I am sure it is the same in the states it must be buried 18" below ground in an approved conduit or appropriate non conduit wire. You can run your 1" conduit below ground before hand as cplarson suggests and bury it. Make sure that you have run a pull line through the conduit so your electician call pull the wires through. We did this for our tub install. You can have your electrician come over and he will let you know what is required.

The $9500 was for the base 8 foot model with 33 jets. You can probably get a better deal on the options. The place we went to offered 50% off on the options. That will reduce your price to $10,945. It depends on how bad the dealer wants to sell if they are the only game in town. Offer $10,500 and try to get a $250 store credit and see what happens. If that does not work get your best price and see what you can get for a store credit as this does not cost the dealer as much as a straight cash discount. Your other option is to go out of town and have a different brand of spa trucked in but you will want to determine what costs there will be for any service calls. As stated before the Arctic is a good brand so you could do worse for the only dealer in town. good luck

We were quoted $9500 for a summit signature so $9500 seems high for a 7 foot spa. You are up north so I am sure there are additional delivery costs. the option prices also seemed a bit high but not 2 bad with the $1000 discount. If there are other dealers check them out too. The arctic is a well built spa so it is definately a good choice oif there are no other dealers in the area.

Just spent 10 minutes 2 plunking out a reply and the system crapped out and lost it when I tried to post. We think the Genesis system in the system 3 is great . 5 weeks and still crystal clear water with little or no management. 4 shocks in 5 weeks and stable bromine at 3 to 5 ppm with a fairly high bather load. Base prices in BC are $6700 for 84", $7400 for 90" and more for the 93" endeavour. Must haves are the massage seat therapy upgrade, the power dome the circ pump and cedarlite skirt. The sports package is also great. There is more info in this forum from my previous posts which you can look for with the search function. Any other info PM me as I am getting tired of the system crapping out when I post. Last thing is to wet test many tubs before you make your final decision as fit is VERY important. Good luck

I would agree that the Arctic, Hotspring, Jacuzzi and Sundance are good choices. Wth the Sundance if you want a lounger I would look at the Cameo. The Maxxus is a large tub. Wet test and see if you even want a lounger. I thought I wanted a lounger and after wet testing we decided against the lounger. With the Cal spas upgrade to the Classic series as the lower level series have cheap jets. As for wet testing if your wife wants privacy the dealers in our area offered to open privately for us before of after hours. We did not care so we just hopped in. Remember that you are spending around $8,000 plus for your spa so the dealer will try to accomodate you. good luck
