  1. Rick. I checked out the site and it seems all you need is lavander and if you are a little under the weather maybe some pine. I'm picking up some lavander tomorrow. Thanks.
  2. As a person who is in a business where we sub work out to other contractors, I can say you should find someone yourself. When I went to my HS dealer, I got a price quote that was $300 above what I paid for an independant contractor to do a slab that was 80 sq/ft larger than the dealers quoted price. Dealers can and do tack on a little and sometimes a lot for the convienience of giving a number. When the contractor knows the dealer recommends him, he will automatically include the dealers price. When doing both electric and concrete slab, it could cost you a large additional price. Call around and get recommendations. Remember though, concrete takes at least 4 days to cure so don't rush to put a spa on it once poured. Happy soaking.
  3. Thanks B0Darc.. and thanks for the link! I'm definitely thinking of the stockings as a disposable item, and yes, they're white - for all the reasons you mentioned So far it's been in place a few weeks and the spa seems to be holding up nicely - and the filter is definitely easier to clean. I just "spin" it and pull the leaves or other debris off the nylon without removing the filter. I haven't noticed any "float back" of items - nor anything floating and NOT getting picked-up by the filter. I'm guessing that's because my tub has a 24hr continuous flow pump - so there's always some flow into the skimmer/filter. The water looks good and the filter itself just seems cleaner with it (under the stocking that is). All I see is an occasional bubble that builds up under the mesh. It really does seem to be working better for me. Then again, it's winter, leaves are mostly gone, and we've had our first snow.. so fewer items to get in in the first place! Who knows? Meanwhile, I'll keep an eye on it, but so far I recommend it! no apparent ill-effects that I can see! I'll take a look at the laundry bag too! Would it be helpful if I posted a picture so folks can understand what I'm talking about? I used to have a Softub and the filter element was wrapped by a nylon sock with a string on the open end to tie off so the scok wouldn't fall off. It was quite some time ago, but I think Softub used to sell these for around $10. They stretch and I am sure would fit most spa filters. I don't think they sell through dealers any more but believe they still have a web site to get accessories.
  4. We got the Hot Springs Grandee GG. Large spa with no lounger. Loving it.
  5. Not at all. The tent is a 12X12 and it is high enough for the cover to open without hitting anything. It is working great so far.
  6. Thanks for all the information. It worked.
  7. I think I can finally post the pictures I took of our Hot Springs Grandee. The tent is an EZ-up canopy with screen sides to help us get a little privacy from nearby neighbors. Looking to do something a little more permanent but this really held up great with 60 MPH winds last week. Hope you enjoy the pics.
  8. I have taken some pictures of our new Hot Springs Grandee, however I cannot figure out how to post them in this forum. Any help to this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  9. A quick update. We got delivery of our new tub on November 16th and went away on the 17th. When we got back, the electrician came last tuesday and hooked it up. We were comfortably soaking that night. It has been about a week now and we enjoy it almost every night. We did run into one problem though. One of the Moto jets seems to get stuck. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to see if they can fix the problem. Any feedback on moto jets not functioning properly? Will we continue to have issues with them? I am still planning on posting pictures. I am home tomorrow and it should be light out during the day.
  10. I have to agree. Find a Marquis dealer. They have some really good spas for hydrotherapy. Could be the thing you are looking for. My wife and I wet tested the Epic and fell in love with the spa. (We wet tested about 15 others before) Because of a problem I had with the dealer, we didn't purchase the Epic. We went with our second choice the Hot Springs Grandee. It is getting delivered tomorrow. Good luck in whatever you purchase and remember, Wet test, wet test, wet test.
  11. My opinion is that dealer confidence should rate just below comfort in the spa itself. I was more than willing to spend more at a Marquis dealer until the manager made a complete A_ _ of himself in front of my wife and kids. I walked out and retested the Grandee from Hot Springs. We are happy with our decision and awaiting delivery this Friday. Go with your gut when it comes to these sleezy salesman. Good service after delivery is just as important as the initial purchase.
  12. Barrett, I just purchased a Hot Springs Grandee from my dealer in LI, NY. They are moving out 2007 models now and I got a price of $8995 for the complete package. This was lowered from the original price of $9895 2 weeks ago. If I wanted to order one and not from the stock at the dealer it would be $9295. All of these prices are plus tax of course. The dealer said this price reduction is coming from Hot Springs. Should be available to your area also.
  13. There are some organic ice melts on the market that will not be harmful to wood and trex decking. They can be applied by spray and usually last for up to 3 weeks after application. They are normally good for up to approx. 3 inches of snow and work at temperatures way below freezing. Something to look into. Check out gardensalive.com I believe they carry one brand.
  14. Good luck with your tub. I wish my dealer was giving me a tub in the meantime. Still waiting for mine. Happy Soaking.
